One of my favorite films. Just as a note to some of the opening statements/questions. It is considered classic film noir, and as stated, is one of the last of that period. As far as critics go, American critics mainly panned it, but European critics loved it. It started being reevaluated in the US during the 70s, and has become widely recognized as a masterpiece, one of Welles' best films, and a outstanding example of the genre.

It's a pleasing visual confusion that you can watch over and over again. Some movie lovers can overlook story continuity and choose to appreciate just the redeeming value of overwhelming beauty in action. Nice job guys.
