Maintenance and ingenuity is much less expensive than payments on new equipment, and more satisfying to boot!

Reminds me a lot of my old 70’s Mustang 1000. I also bought it as a basket case, partially disassembled. It originally had a Wisconsin V4 engine, but the only thing left of it was some of the tins. The hydraulic pump was also long gone. It too uses the variable drive system like your Case, but much of the parts for that were missing or damaged. Same clutch drive system too, and luckily it was in very good condition. I repowered it with a 24 hp Onan twin, using the hydraulic pump from a large Case garden tractor. I used a chain drive instead of trying to fix the variable speed system. One big difference between your Case and the Mustang is that the pump drives off the flywheel end of the engine, while the drive comes off the PTO end, so the variable speed wouldn’t affect the hydraulics. I have considered replacing the chain drive system with an Eaton hydrostatic pump so I can get the variable speed back. Would also like to replace the Onan with a small diesel or gas water cooled engine, but don’t have anything available right now. No, I don’t use it every day, but it sure is handy when I need it!

I've got one even older 1963 . Same basic machine. Never had the bucket leveling, it was before they did that. The controls and clutch drives are the same. I love it and use it all the time. Mine has a V4 Wisconsin. I've got a 3cyl. Mitsubishi diesel that I want to swap into it because the way the carb and intake are setup and part of the exhaust down in the v it really gets hot in the Summer and vapor locks the carb. But it runs so good most of the time I haven't had the heart to pull the Wisconsin and do the swap. I like how yours came out. And you've given me some ideas about how to do mine when I do. Thanks for the video sir.

Nice work restoring the old Case. I like Case equipment. I bought A 1845C back in the mid 1990's from an equipment auction that I used on my first hobby farm and brought it with me to the farm I have now. Work's well for snow removal and patching up the driveway's. Much better than my I.H. 400 tractor as the skid is much more maneuverable.

nice to have one of those, just picked up an old clark c500-30 forklift with propane power, running with poor power and all the hydraulics work fine, going to give it a tune up and see if that makes it a runner.

Slick machine but like you said hand and eye coordination is say very quick. Can you put a flow restrictor on it with a on/off switch as when you do run one long enough that is simply not a problem. I had a old gold trommel that you moved it around on a ball hitch and that wold move it cause it was a small but one man efficient machine that would run say ten yards on a all out day. I fed the trommel with a belt conveyor with a swing arm so you could move the feeder with out moving the belt to the trommel.... a double feed which could of been inproved on a bit. thanks for that video.... I liked it

Where do you add hydraulic fluid in these machines? I have one and cannot figure it out.
@coachgeo4 жыл бұрын
not sure how much they are the same... Ive got a 1537. If they are similar.. is there a cross over of lube/hydraulic fluid from one side to the other? am buying 1537 and seller said he does not fill but one side... after looking at videos of the chain system I worry one side is not lubed well. (if at all) since it seems this is lubed by sitting in a bath of hydraulic fluid in a tank with a fill on each side.

Jonathan, Thanks for the vidio.I have a Massey Ferguson 711b with a vh4d wisconsin thats junk, I'm thinking about installing a isuzu engine out of a semi refrigeration trailer. How did you get started in the towing business? I'm looking to do the same here in michigan just haven't found the first step to start out with. I allready have an older chevy 1 ton wrecker with wheel lift. l really like your vidios the "use whats on hand " builds hit home just don't/can't justify payments. Again Thanks for the vidios!

@charliebardo62556 жыл бұрын
Brians farm and repairs there's 2 little plugs on each side between the tires. One is upper level and the other is the lower level. I haven't added any to mine yet but I'm thinking it is going to have to be pumped in . The clutch adjustment is also in this area don't mess with that . These are just 2 pipe plugs about 3/8 inch.

Gear reduction off ebay. I need a new one, but not sure which one I bought.
@EmpireofRust6 жыл бұрын
Ah, well thanks anyway! I've heard that a Ford 7.3 diesel starter will fit them (at least in the backhoes) but I never heard if it was a 7.3 IDI or first gen 'stroke.
