This is a couple of years old now and I saw you had posted that you sold the machine. It was a hell of an effort and certainty worth the try. Needless to say we learn just as much if not more from our mistakes so it was great you shared the bad with the good as we all do it starting out.
@AlwaysBored1234 жыл бұрын
It was a fun project for sure. I feel like a lot of people leave out the tedious, frustrating, difficult parts of doing stuff like this but if someone's going to try it themselves that's probably what they want to know about so I try to include it.

I just found this video.You did very well.Not many young men would take the time and effort that you have.You are to be admired. My hat is off to you.I see in the comments that you sold the machine, but I hope this has not discouraged you from future projects.Ken

Motor swap: flywheel to chain link coupler. Is this a part that can be bought? The motor mount looks to be just square tubing shimmed up to the right crank height. Im excited to do this swap if I can find the details. Thank you for showing your swap.
@AlwaysBored1232 жыл бұрын
I *think* all the coupler parts are still available new from CNH, however they are quite expensive and rarely wear out so you would be better off to look for a complete used assembly from a salvage yard. Look around on this link for part numbers, www.mycnhistore.com/us/en/casece/light-equipment/skid-steer-loaders/naes77ski007uni-loader/case-uni-loader-skid-steer-loader-north-america/engine/fan-fan-belt/cn/82207A67-8FBF-E111-9FCE-005056875BD6/D1CB6496-EFBE-E111-9FCE-005056875BD6 The motor mounts on the frame of the machine could be fabricated easily enough. They're basically just a flat pad with a hole through it which a matching pad cast into the bellhousing bolts to, separated by a rubber bushing. And the double u-joint allows for a significant amount of misalignment.

The smoking is likely just gummed up rings from the oil not getting changed enough. Running synthetic oil for a while would probably clear up the smoke.

dont give up . slow down take your time they are money pits. good job with the coupler. i got mine going only too have a bent hyd. cylinder trashed axle seals and a bad leftside hyd. pump. one good thing yours smokes like mine.. lol.. good luck
@AlwaysBored1236 жыл бұрын
Ouch. Wheel seals are not that bad but hydraulic parts get expensive fast. I was pretty disappointed in that engine. In hindsight I think the guy I got it from may have got it from some kind of surplus or liquidation auction. Which would help explain why it was bad. Oh well. I did end up getting my money back out of the thing so it's all good.

So there's a little smoke. She's still making power. Put her to work. Good job.
@Wingnut353 Жыл бұрын
@@AlwaysBored123 A diesel engine especially an older one smoking a bit... of black smoke does NOT mean it is bad, the normal version of those in a skiddder would have smaller injectors but you probably have a truck or industrial version with larger injectors thus the smoke. If you want less smoke put smaller injectors in its that simple... engines with electronic controls will even smoke a bit less as they vary the amount injected with a mapping, it may be this engine was remapped a bit hot also... if it has an ECU (pretty sure it doesn't).
@AlwaysBored123 Жыл бұрын
@@Wingnut353 It was burning oil. The smoke was thin and blueish tinted and smelled like burnt oil. There's a possibility it was valve stem seals but it refused to start without ether and had a significant amount of blowby so I'm pretty sure it was just worn slap out.

Please, don't leave the safety bar down when you get out. They can creep or just take off on you and the parking pins are not locked when its down.

hello everyone, i have a problem with my case 1845c, could anyone advise me? When I lift the whole loader arm with a spoon, empty or full, it doesn't matter, it lifts up well, but down it goes very very slowly. It always jumps a little up when starting. The spoon can be opened and closed well. When I turn off the engine the loader arm goes down well. If I go down and at the same time open and close the spoon it goes a little lower it faster. Even if the loader arm does not move, the hydraulics sound as if they are hissing, as if the hydraulics are working. At the same time, the right side of the wheel control does not work properly. Please advise what the problem is. The hydraulic fluid is full. Thanks for the reply

Pour mystery oil in the engine and run it....
@Hiperf3 жыл бұрын
Snake oil maybe but before you deem that engine junk try some product called "restore". Knocks loose sticky rings and gets back compression if nothing is broke broke.

Moral of the story is test the engine before you install it
@AlwaysBored1232 жыл бұрын
Yup. I actually did run this engine a little bit beforehand but didn't realize how bad it was.
@Wingnut353 Жыл бұрын
@@AlwaysBored123 yeah I just checked again... and an 4BT in a truck would aboslutely smoke exactly like that, the industrial ones are detuned way down to smoke less.... so you probably have a higher output versoin that is socking a little more fuel to it so has a bit unburned in the exhaust... and it won't smell like unburned diesel its partially burned soot.
