I, just bought a 1966, case 530 Ck diesel backhoe 188 I, had to replace all of the hydraulic hoses and had to buy a new diesel fuel injector pump. new pump was $2 thousand. I, also got the original manual book with the backhoe. the reason why I bought the backhoe is 1 I got a good deal on it and 2 I live on a big farm and I've got on the farm a natural sand and BANK gravel bank on the farm that I want to dig out for using on the farm. I just bought a good USED DUMP TRK TO. it's a 1973, FORD F-700 5- ton DUMP TRK. now just waiting for it to stop raining so I can power wash the backhoe and paint it before winter. Again thank, you for you helpful video.🙏

Ouch on the pump! I hope my diesel 530 that I'm working on doesn't need one.

My dad had one of those with a cab on it when I was like 12 years old, and I used to look for excuses to do yard work with it. Great machines.

I know this video is 5 years old, but how is the old gal holding out? I have the 1968 580CK, 188D engine that my dad left me. Just went through getting the injection pump rebuilt, starter rebuilt and replaced the injectors. I am going to have ALL the hoses replaced, but what I am dreading is getting that fuel tank cleaned out. The tractor fires with literally barely bumping the starter, but I am using an external tank due the mess in the original tank. A couple of the cylinders are leaking of course, so have to get the packing and rebuild those, they should not be such a big deal. Glad I happened upon your video.

Came across this video a few years after it's posting but i just bought one of these machines. First tractor, backhoe I've have every owned or driven in my 52 years. Homesteading a 3 acre piece of land here in Maine it became a necessity to have. A mechanic had owned it for the past 7 years and everything seems in order. It has the diesel engine and it seems to run and sounds amazing. Your video was awesome for me since i know nothing. What is the benefit, purpose or reason for keeping the loader bucket up in the air? I have always seen them pressed to the ground leading me to figure that was how to sit them.
@themadmailler2 жыл бұрын
A backhoe and bulldozer are essential, in my opinion, to any homesteading sort of operation! This machine doesn't run, so that makes moving the machine around (using another tractor) hard without the bucket up. On a running machine it is very important, safety wise, to drop it to the ground. On this machine, I lifted the loader up and zip tied pieces of angle iron against the cylinder rods to prevent fully lowering so i can move it easily.

while the head and oil pan are off look for cracking between the cylinder sleeves. very common. I need to double check that rocker arm bolt. Over the 4 years I've been working on it i can't remember if I did that or not. Im sure you considered throwing the 310G engine in there too.
@themadmailler6 жыл бұрын
I have considered putting in the 310G engine. it won't be super easy because the engine is a structural component in this tractor, there is no frame.

I have a gas powered 530 CK that has done a huge amount of work for me. PO was good on oil changes and I've never done any engine work besides distributor tune up, and oh yeah----- it wasn't charging. Voltage regulator is located down behind the panel. All it needed was the ground re-established. I usually have to replace a hose a year.

Where do you buy parts for it
@bobbean47023 жыл бұрын
@@pedritoc.c.t.665 for most things the internet is the best place. I have hoses made up locally. You can buy parts from a Case dealer but I haven't yet.

Can you please give me the right location of the oil passage bolt in the rocker arm assembly, I had the same exact deal and just took the head apart yesterday and found this specific bolt right in the middle just like you did!!! If you have any tips on pulling the injectors out please advise because mine looks like they stuck in place. Thanks.
@themadmailler3 жыл бұрын
check the rebuild manual, it's either the front or back. I think I just pried the injectors out. use two prybars, one on each side.

I have a 580 construction king with the same 188 diesel in it and was wondering how your able to change the the main bearing closest to the flywheel because the transmission housing is in the way of taking that bearing cap off. i have a couple other questions if you wouldnt mind, i couldnt find any email or phone to contact you
@themadmailler2 жыл бұрын
it's been a while, but i'm sure that i was able to replace all the bearings.

Radiator is a real pain in the ass though. I did my hydraulic pump and found out it's the same as a Ford 555 Triple Nickel . Thanks for the video I'm about to do my injectors due to sitting and dirty filter but runs good other wise

Question please, whats the best way to get the bucket up off the ground on a dead backhoe? I have a 530 needing an engine swap, going D TO GAS as spare D's are rare here. Thanks and cheers from Nova Scotia
@themadmailler3 жыл бұрын
jack it up, or use a come along hooked to a suitable anchor. chain up the backhoe boom and keep the loader boom up by wedging pieces of angle iron along the cylinder rod between the gland end and the rod eye.

You're talking about the angle iron? it's pretty secure, unless it gets jostled (like if it was on a trailer) it should be fine. Everything should be used within it's limits, in my case it works fine just sitting in the driveway because there is nothing that will jar it loose.

you know you cant trust the pervious owner,hopefully,he didnt do anything to the buttom end. the bearings furthest from the oil pump could tell the story. Ifyou did the rebuild,you would know what you have.
