Thanks Steve. I'm kicking myself that I didn't change the filters earlier, but probably wouldn't have made any difference. Pretty sure it was the fuel going off. Live & learn!

I was going to say that using the front loader to crush a can is overkill but those cans look to be tough buggers.

Yep, it's overkill for sure!! But I have nothing else in the yard to do it. And I probably shouldn't tell you that we use a 16 tonne excavator to do the same job at work!! Ha ha!!

That's certainly overkill. However, It certainly seems like it would be hard to find a better tool for the job that's not some purpose built contraption or some specialty press with a long enough stroke to do it all in one go. Its win/win if you coordinate it with greasing the machines or some maintenance check :)

I know it’s hard to do but sometimes it’s better to bite the bullet and by diesel. When I worked yet the mechanic started putting a quart of atf in the tanks of the Cummins diesel delivery trucks once a month and the injection pump problems reduced dramatically.

I would concur with your diagnosis. I was running Husqvarna vegetable oil on petrol hedge trimmer as we composted clippings but left unused for a period the blades stuck solid and took some serious degreasing to remove the tacky goop.

Yeah, it can become 'sticky stuff' if you leave it outside and open for too long!

Pete, my 580 super L works great as far as the front and back scoop is concerned. My problem is on my place i have very steep hills and i notice that im loosing power when attempting to drive up the hills. Where should i start my hunting for this issue. From South Texas, Kind Regards

Hi David, when you say 'loosing power', is the engine struggling or is it maintaining it's RPM (or over revving) and you are loosing drive power at the wheels? If your hydraulics are working fine, then I suspect a transmission issue. The 'Super L' is a different model to mine, so I'm going to be guessing the specifics here. Firstly, I would check the transmission filter (cut it open and look for excessive metal or friction pad debris). Also check to see if the issue is in forward only, or if it does it in reverse as well (this will help determine if it's a clutch pack that has failed. Maybe a lining worn out, or a seal has failed). There are test ports on the trans' valve block to check your individual clutch packs and charge pressure. As your model is different to mine, I'm unsure what the pressure rating is, or which exact port to check. I hope this helps. Please let me know how you get on with it! Pete :-)

Hi Daniel, my apologies, I thought I mentioned it in the video. It was a bit under $1500 by the time freight and tax were added. I've used it a bit since this video, and it still seems to be running just fine. So hopefully, this will last!! Thanks for the comment!
