I was stranger stalked in the 80s. It's difficult to describe how frightening it is. I'm a brave gal, but this was hard. My sex crimes detective told me 'Stalkers rarely do anything, but if the do, it will be the most f**ked up thing.' This narrative definitely showed this aspect of irrational, dangerous behavior.
@texastea5686 Жыл бұрын
Uuugghhh I'm sorry! What happened to the stalker? Did you ever know who it was?
@always_b_natural703 Жыл бұрын
@@texastea5686 Yes, the police were able to determine who it probably was. It's a long and complicated story. Basically, he was a guy that did this consistently, even to women he worked with, hence having a history. The reason he wasn't able to be prosecuted was that he learned how to avoid being pinned for his crimes. He worked in a large plant. When my phone was tapped, a number would come up, with an extension. However, there was no way to tell if the extension presented was the phone that was being used. Even if it was, like any large workplace, most employees can use most phones. And if there's nobody around, he could use the phone at will. This was a shift work plant, so the offices would be left open for the cleaning crew to go through, and be locked after the work was complete, so he had plenty of access for his favorite hobby. Anyways, he called for a number of years. I thought he would stop if my husband would talk to him. He wasn't put off at all. The police had told me he was basically under his wife's thumb, so I took a chance. On the final call, I told him that the police had told me who he was. If he kept calling me, I would have a visit with his wife, and present the evidence the police had given me, and let her know what he'd been up to. There was a long silence, and he hung up, never to call again.

In the mid eighties I was stalked by a gay guy for two years. As a gay man myself I just wanted to add that this kind of thing happens to men too. It left me shaken and I'll never forget it. One night I was in a train returning home from work. I was the only person on the car, or so I thought. I leaned forward and was stunned to see something sitting next to me. It was him. Dressed in black leather and wearing a very creepy fright mask. I just kept looking forward and after some time looked to my left and he was gone. I hadn't noticed him for some time up to this point. He was very clever. He managed to befriend some of my friends who wouldn't believe my story. Eventually I read an article about stalking and had a name for this behavior. I still find it disturbing to talk or write about it.

@laurastabell2489 Жыл бұрын
Well said by someone who posts figure revealing pictures and where abouts on social media. Why arent you covering up? The above is an example of victim blaming. Its normal in our society to show an attractive photo of ourselves and chat about what we do and where we go. Nobody should be forced to be in a group of "certain people " who cant do whats commonly done due to the difficulties of an individual or individuals to deal in a normal way with sexuality issues. In order to find a mate, women and men have to flaunt some sexuality and over all attractiveness. Its not posted for other reasons by the majority of people. I think displays of outgoing behaviors are also a positive in society. Showing off a social life or active life are showing ourselves in a positive light. Why should some people be forced to shut down that life or displays of that life? Thats part of the victimization. If I cant have you, no one can. Lets do things to the victim to limit their social engagement. Lets sexualize or objectify them so that interreactions with others cease to be positive. Its subtle yet effective to feed poison pills of thought to others about an individual. He effectively "whore" -ified her. Then only thing she did was be born attractive to him. From this point , she cant be sure the motives of any man towards her aren't purely sexual. She has had to go into hiding. Very sad.
@naomiledger137410 ай бұрын
I don't agree with victim blaming either but when does the victim get to take some level of responsibility for their own safety?? If I were being stalked and quite terrified I absolutely would not be maintaining my social media presence. It's just common sense, surely?!
