I think Allen & Ginter is a super fun rip. It’s nice to have something different to open. I’m not sure that it need a a Chrome standalone set though… I would prefer if these were just inserts in the regular set. It really makes me wonder if Topps eliminating releases like Fire, Gallery, and Opening Day was a better decision…

My favorite set of the year. I opened two boxes from my LCS today and pulled a Julio mini refractor. I love the green parallels with the leaves design, they look so lush.

You misunderstood that green light mini. The set was "baseball lexicon". My guess some other cards in that set feature a "can of corn" or a "frozen rope"

1973, he was drafted by the Padres in MLB, the Hawks in the NBA, the Utah Stars in the ABA and the Vikings in the NFL. He's one of 3 players drafted by teams in 3 major sports and as far as I can find, the only person drafted by teams from 4 different major leagues. Prior to that, he had been drafted by the White Sox but decided to decline their offer and try to improve his positioning. So he was drafted by 5 different teams, in 4 different leagues, and in 3 different sports. To add a little bit more impressive, he was drafted on June 5, 1973 and made his MLB debut on June 19, 1973. A mere 14 days after he was drafted.

a local auction house has a huge baseball card auction next week they have thousands of cards from tobacco cards to 80's and 90's cards. if interested im me and i will give you the link . im doing this because i know a lot of people would be interested in this auction. they do have shipping so that would not be a problem to pick up.

Yes, the autos are one per case. So they're harder to pull, on the other hand, the checklist, due to the rarity of autos in the set, is able to be much smaller than the sets that give you 1 or 2 autos in every box. Give the checklist a look, your odds of pulling an auto are tougher, but your odds of pulling a really nice auto are much better. And the rarity means everyone knows that the base autos, though not numbered, are short printed. Autos of guys who normally sell for $50 will sell for three or more times that in AG Chrome.

I get a kick output of some. It was fun, I believe it was last year or 2020, to try to see how big a farm I could build. I still have a box somewhere with like 8 chicken cards. They're neat sometimes, and they often give a little info on whatever the subject is. It isn't for everyone, but I always find it to be a refreshing change of pace from just chasing the same few rookies.

Personally I really really DO NOT like Allen and ginter. Not a fan of the weird cards included in the set, or the old-timey look. I’m not looking for a chrome mini of a pickle, or a national park, or to have one of my numbered cards get taken up by a celebrity that I could care less about. Obviously this product isn’t for me. That being said, it getting the chrome treatment for those who actually DO like the set is great imo and I wish the best chases and hits for those who love the product! Personally I’m thankful that topps & fanatics are weeding out a percentage of the less desirable sets as the ones that stick around will carry more value. This one should stay of course because people love it, but I hope they cut back on chrome in the future so that it can retain its prestige and value moving forward. Having 10 different variations of the same thing isn’t good for anyone.
