Hot and humid here and no rain. You made it look pretty simple. At least the rolls aren't longer.

Looking forward to the next exciting episode! Take it easy in the summer heat. I work in a big factory that doesn’t have air conditioning so I feel your pain on these hot summer days.

Summers were bad in Southeast Michigan long before we had home air conditioning. Farming just a half mile west of Lake Huron, humidity limited my baling time to between 1pm and 6 pm.

Yes, you need to stay hydrated. I just got cleared from the Dr from server dehydration the day I took the wheat off. I drank over 180oz of water and they still gave me 3 bags of saline in the ER that night. Their 1st thought was that my kidneys were shutting down. I was sweating it all out. It turns out to be medication but still drink water, drink water, drink water. Be save and good luck.

Glad your OK! Good reason to fix the AC in the combine. I'm glad I quit for the day when I did.

Good catch on the bad bearing. Sadly, your method of disassembly looked to be about the only way to do that. We've got similar weather here in my area. Bad when you just walk out the door & start sweating. ROCK ON FARMER PETE!!!

We've had some hot humid weather here in Michigan also. The crops look great, but I'm with you, makes it miserable working outside.

I see there was some pretty bad flooding just south of you as well...You made getting those rolls out look easy! A good machinist will fix that with no issue

Yes. The river near me went up then back down right away. The ground is still a LONG way from saturated, that helps.

Hmm. I hope on ours, I can just get into the bearing and change it. I'm more of a minimalist, the less I have to take apart, the better.. A welder and grinder would probably fix the shaft, if the machine shop can't.. I know you can do it!! Waiting to see what happens
@farmerpete3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm kind of a tear-it-all-to-hell guy. There's a machine shop in the city where my better half lives, they've been around forever and handle some pretty big stuff. They didn't even bat an eye at this.

A machine shop should be able to spray weld the shaft and turn it to specifications.

@@farmerpete - That’s what we have on our Hesston 1110 sickle mower conditioner. They give an excellent crimp/condition to the hay and IMHO the rubber roll is indestructible - unlike a New Holland rubber roll.
