Yes canning does take up lot of sugar. The bishop store house they put sugar in tin cans that will last for 30 years. If it store right. I love doing case lot sell.

We just put sugar in food grade buckets. I am hopeful that the sugar I got this year will be enough for 2 years, but I am not sure. Still getting the long term storage numbers figured out.

Hey Marlene, don’t forget to get some boneless hams during Thanksgiving and Christmas and let your store thinly slice it into sandwich thickness then have them put them in either one or 2 pound packages and then you can throw those in your freezer and have ham sandwiches for a lot longer for a lot less price than what they sell in the deli section! I’m definitely doing this for Thanksgiving and also for Christmas so we can stock up on ham around here! Or ham did just drop in price to $4.54 for a pound in the deli section versus the previous price of nearly 6 dollars! 2:28 2:33 2:36

This is a great idea! I am not sure if my local store has them on sale during the holidays but I will keep an eye out. It may be worth a trip out of town for this! We love ham and it can be so expensive!! I stock up on deli meats when they go on sale but I know when you buy it whole it is a better deal. Maybe I should keep an eye on Sam's Club when I go into the club to see what their prices are! Thanks AarynLynn!

So jealous! I wish I could find those. I do have two buckets with bread flour that a friend buys for me from Sams club for $13 because I can’t find it anywhere else. I am down to my last 12 lbs of sugar from last years stock up. Hoping for good sales this winter to stock up again on everything.

It is amazing to find the case lot sales! I have never seen bread flour at Sam's when I am there. I may have to keep an eye out! Yes, the case lot sales really help us stay within our budget!

I love canning. If you are starting out I recommend water bath canning because it is easier. There are so many KZbin videos showing how to do it...when you are ready just watch some videos. I love watching That 1870s Homestead for canning. She is amazing!!

Super jealous we don’t have caseloads here. Oh I wish we did! I kind of wish we had a Winco as well. We don’t have one of those either. My closest Winco is between four and five hours away in Oklahoma. Lol.

Do you know that flower only last for about six months even in food, safe buckets if you leave flour in the freezer the last for over a year 4:30 4:33

I have had really good luck with flour lasting over a year. We are eating flour right now that is from September 2022. I freeze the flour to kill any bugs then I let the flour fully dry out before I put it in storage in buckets in a cool, dry location. Here's keeping my fingers crossed. This case lot sale was at a store called Ridley's. Another store I get case lot deals at is Smith's aka Kroger.
