Yes! Most videos available are "day in the life of a case manager" and all they show is them getting up, making their bed, making breakfast, putting on their outfit for the day, etc. And don't really say anything of substance about the JOB itself (which is why we're watching their video in the first place!🙄) so this was very helpful.

Hi Ms. Tara! I’m interviewing today for an LVN case manager position. I have a question: what would you say are the biggest cons of the position? Also, is it hard to take time off, for doctor’s appointments? I know of some positions where things are not very flexible

@@MegaSpeedy9000 you need to be trained by the right person. Training is key. Ask about the schedule up front. Get that squared away. Then focus on trainings.

@@isisagood yes I did have experience as a care coordinator for 4 years first. The job focused on discharge planning after hospitalization of Medicare advantage members to continue care and was 100%remote. This opened the door for me to get my new job as a LVN Case manager associate and my office is still remote/wah but I am also in field meeting members in the hospital a percentage of the time as well. I have been interested in case management. I am a BSN certified nurse in the PCU and have been a nurse around 9 years. We have daily case management meetings for discharge planning but I was wondering if there are certificates or other training to help if I want to pursue this direction? Everyday I'm thinking about SNF vs LTAC vs Home Health placement or oxygen needs or DME orders but I'm not sure if this would be enough to move into case management eventually.

Getting a masters to be a case manager is extra and silly. Don’t have to do it. Just apply, you’ll likely get the job if you are already a nurse

Home health case managers are no different than hospice case managers other than the level of care their patients require. They also treat the whole person, request and order DME, work on Med issues, coordinate between physicians, have to deal with insurance issues, utilization and working within managed care guidelines to care for a patient.
