How is it that after two large dinner parties with their friends and neighbors, not a single person attempted to phone police or, at the very least, speak to Joe and Anu about their "plans"? With friends like that, who needs enemies? Edit: 4 years?? Not guilty of murder. What do you have to do in Australia to be convicted of murder? I'm shocked. What an injustice. Edit 2: Her accomplice was let off completely?!! 🤯

Another amazing podcast from the casefile crew. I stumbled across your podcasts around 6 months ago & have listened to every episode. Some of the crimes I semi recall although most are completely new to me. I have trouble sleeping and play them from my iPhone when I go to bed, usually fall asleep half way through so listen to the remaining half the following night. Anu Singh got off so lightly, served only 4 years !!! what a misjustice.

What I learned from this one: Heed your family and friends' views on your partner. Drink beer and other drinks from cans / bottles you have opened yourself and not left unattended. Develop your crazy detector radar. Give greater weight to partners character than their looks Learn how to identify codependency in yourself. Stay away from nightclubs Do not have a relationship with someone you met at a nightclub. Do not have a relationship with someone who was unfaithful to their current partner with you. If you're going to leave-go now! Do not delay. Law school attracts crazy types.

What in the cheese and crackers is wrong with these people? They go to gatherings just to see if Anu would really kill Joe, seemingly leaving disappointed when Anu didn't follow thru?! Everyone around her knew she was sick and nobody even bothered to at least speak to the cops? I once told my boyfriend I want to drink myself unconcious (liquor) after a heated argument, 30 minutes later police is beating down my door. WTF!

So I’m Australian and I’ve been wanting to ask this question for a while, do our sentences seem like a joke compared to other countries? 4 years non parole for taking another persons life is wrong.

I am also reminded of that horrid man who scared the girl into the balcony and then she fell. He got away with murder as well! Then I saw a case only yesterday where an Australian man supposedly shot his wife when snake hunting in a garage and never charged !! So yeah actually, now you come to mention it

Well, yes and no. Compared to the US, every western country has silly sentences. I’m Swedish and our justice system is a joke, so I’d probably feel right at home in Australia. I’m used to shaking my head at everything crime and punishment.

I'm stunned that after all the 'Chinese whispers' that took place amongst students over weeks about Anu's plan for Joe, that Joe never got wind of it or nobody said anything to Joe! ALL the ppl who were aware of her plans, whether they believed she was serious or not, and who turned up to the house to gawp at Joe, are guilty of negligence, at the very least, imo. Anu should rot in gaol and never get out. Her best friend got away with murder. Hopefully she gets her just desserts in due course. RIP Joe.

This woman is a piece of work! She got away with MURDER! So did her idiot friend! Their dinner party friends all bear responsibility for doing NOTHING! Not one had the common sense to let Joe know what the psycho was planning! Two dinner parties were given as farewells to end Joes life & psychos life. Yet not one guest thought it was concerning enough to alert Joe or the authorities? This never should have happened. There were numerous times this could have been stopped! This is the most unbelievable case of a group of people who stood by & basically watched! I feel so sorry for Joes family. This miscarriage of justice is appalling! This psychopath literally got away with murder. Thanks to this judges ruling!

The parents allowing her mental state to get so bad despite being health practioners isn’t right either. I mean the girl was talking about bugs under her skin and her head being attached to a different body and was bullimic for years and they didn’t seem to be in any rush to get her emergency mental help.

Off topic: It makes me angry when people who have two or more children say that one of them is "The most precious thing I have" or the like, when there's even the slightest possibility that their other child(ren) will hear or read it. I don't understand how parents can allow themselves to hurt their children like that.

Anu never intended to commit suicide. That was just a deceptive ploy intended to make her look more sympathetic i.e. insane when she murdered Joe. She and the friend who helped with this should be in prison. I can understand how her other friends thought Anu wasn't serious, they knew how attention seeking she was.
@c.w.8200
@c.w.8200 Жыл бұрын
I agree, I think the doctor that diagnosed her with immaturity and narcissism got it right, depression and even borderline are no sufficient explanation for her behavior, she didn't self harm, she didn't attempt suicide, she did this all for attention and to prevent Joe from having a life without her, that's no different from a narcissistic man killing his wife before she can leave.
