Today we start the new series; Cases for the greatest of all time. Kareem has a strong case, let's take a look.
These videos aren`t meant to definitively say who the greatest is, rather it is to lay out the case for them being the greatest.

I honestly think Kareem being the all-time Bucks leading scorer might be the most impressive stat. He played there 5 seasons... from the ages of 22-26... and is a franchise's ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER.

Ospinra he mentioned it because it’s insane that he’s the franchise scoring leader even though he only played there 5 years. He doesn’t need to mention that he’s the leagues leading scorer, because that’s common knowledge. What the guy is saying is that the fact that he leads the bucks in scoring for that franchise is an underrated stat since he spent so little time there. No need to get all aggressive

Olajuwon was my favorite C and player, but I'm forever cheesed at how easily Jabbar was lighting him up as a old man in his early years lol. But I have to tip my hat to Kareem as the GOAT C because of that.

He had the single most effective offensive weapon ever. Combine that with his dominance in defense and rebounding. He was great passer too. And considering all his all time records, his accomplishments, and his impact on the game, you wouldn't be wrong if you said he was the GOAT

Kareem's high School resume through his NBA resume is the single greatest resume of any basketball player ever. There is no other player that was the greatest High School Player of All Time(Bill Walton is a close 2nd) Which followed that up by being the greatest College Basketball Player of All Time And followed that up with a resume at the NBA level that right at, or in some eyes is as close to Jordan's. AS WELL as someone who statistically is ahead of Jordan in EVERY category except steal That and Kareem would have more NBA records had they tracked certain stats when he came into the league instead of 5-6 years after he came into the league. So even with his stats, there are some that are 4-5 years inaccurate and missing out on thousands. Imagine that.

Today I`m starting a new series called; Cases for the greatest of all time. As I state, these are just their cases, I`m not saying for sure any of these players are actually the greatest, but there are more cases than you may have thought. Who else do you think could be in this series? Like comment and sub if you enjoyed! At the beginning of this video, I took sometimes to correct some of my careless mistakes. I`m from the rural side of KZbin where I never got so many people coming to one video and mistakes are pretty critical now so in the future I`ll make sure to basically not make a mistake lol. But I`ve owned them now so no more issue with that. Thanks for the support! Kareem is the goat. The media never pushed any type of narrative of him being the best bc Kareem was "aloof." He has the greatest resume challenged only by Bill Russell and Jordan. He is literally the greatest offensive force ever factoring in the skyhook which was only his signature, having many fluid post moves and footwork. Automatic 2 points if he gets the ball. One of the only players ever to be considered truly unstoppable. Most MVPs, 6 championships on dominant teams (teams that WOULD NOT be the same without him). The 71 Bucks and the showtime Lakers are in the convo for greatest teams ever. Yes he played with the two greatest point guards ever, but they never won chips without Kareem. I wouldn't put as much into magic and oscar as you would for a situation like Stockton and Malone (most assists ever and 2nd most points ever respectively). At the end of the day the goat convo is opinionated and Kareem, whom has an arguement for being the goat, just so happens to be my favorite player so if you ask me I'll always say Kareem, immediately followed by Michael Jordan and Bill Russell, with a mention of Wilt Chamberlain and Magic Johnson

Dom2k, I'm checking out your posts and they're all very impressive! I just commented on your Wilt post. I'm a basketball fanatic and I love all of these stories and stats. Keep them coming and thank you. As far a Kareem, I still marvel at his skyhook. Most big men use a short-motioned push hook. If you watch Kareem's skyhook, it's amazing to see that his long sweeping motion results with outstretched fingers. He was "following through" just like a long-range shooter would. Big men with touch on any of their shots don't come around often. Kareem's skyhook is, by far, the most deadly finesse post move in NBA history. He has been a coach for so long and he's never found a player that could come close to duplicating his patented shot. I watch b-ball all the time and I can't remember the last time I saw a real skyhook. If any modern 4 or 5 could develop a decent skyhook, they'd have a max paycheck.

I'd say Kereem's the most unstoppable. But only because of one move. He couldn't really shoot or do anything else. Just block, rebound, skyhook... To me, you can't be known as the greatest if you can't dribble, pass, shoot, defend, etc. And centers arent really good dribblers, shooters, or passers and those are the most basic parts of basketball. The first thing you teach a kid is how to dribble. So I dont know how you can make it all the way to the NBA and not be a decent ball handler. You don't to be an ankle breaker, but you should still be able to A LITTLE somethin. Kareem just had one of the most successful careers. But Kareem himself isn't quite that great. Take away his hook shot and what do you have left? Take away Jordan's post fade away and you still have a complete player.

The beauty of sports, particularly basketball, is that nothing can be taken literally, different eras = different rules, everything has to be considered not just stats, just because a player performed at the top of one era doesn't automatically mean they'll dominate other eras, only the youngsters ( usually fans under 26 )think this present era is sooooo great when the rules and officials allow mediocre players to be better than they would be in past eras when the rules didn't effect the game as much, MJ and KAJ are at the top....Second: its ridiculous to compare big men to guards, makes NO SENSE!!! #CarryOn
@Dom2k16
@Dom2k16 7 жыл бұрын
What about when zone defense wasn't allowed? In the 90's a one on one player would be even better because you either had to double team them or guard your own man. Could you imagine Melo, KD, Westbrook, Lebron, Kobe, Harden only being guarded by one guy?
@sleeposaki49

In the 90's they were allowed to be physical tho, today's game is obviously soft compared to the 80's and 90's, the zone helps the defense cover up liabilities on defense because the help always waiting, but there's holes in the zone, its mainly a college defense!!! One on one basketball shows who's really better IMO, they need to drop the zone and bring back hand checking, make players go heads up instead of pick n rolls and setting screens all game, its more exciting to see games within the game

Just gotta say, you really lay down a good basketball video.... Hitting from the main spots, highlighting the exceptional, and leaving it all open to the games that can never be played... For my opinion, it's Kareem or Magic as GOAT. I look at it like this. Lining up all the contenders, at the same age (say 18), who would I expect to put the most skill to compete, across all eras, for the most years. That is Kareem. Another way to say that for K.A.J. is that, draft him to the NBA out of high school - put him on a fairly good team, such as with Oscar, and he wins 2 or 3 more rings - Without being part of a dynasty. K.A.J. brings the most to the table over the longest period of time. As for the other GOAT. It's as simple as this. What player, placed on ANY team, ever, would bring the highest average improvement to all teams. Magic Johnson. Magic, past him prime and into his injury years took a very average Lakers team against Jordan's prime and still stole a game in the finals. If Magic had been in his prime vs. Jordan in his prime, placed on equal teams = Magic takes it home, making the most of his BASKETBALL team.

In my opinion, Kareem is the greatest player ever. Wilt and Russell are the two I constantly argue for second. And while I have heard many conversations about how Jordan is the GOAT, I actually have him at fifth. There is no question if I was going to start a team with any single player, Kareem would be that player. Not Jordan, Russell, West, Robertson, James, Curry, O'Neal, Bryant, Olajuwon, or Chamberlain... Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Its NNG He wasn't way better at scoring, he played more seasons so of course he would have more all star appearances, better accolades, etc. Plus he played with two of the top 10 GOAT PGs in Magic Oscar for most of his career, so one would at the very least expect him to have some GOAT worthy stats. Wilt averaged 50 in one season but when it came playoff time he only averaged like 22 PPG overall. Teams back in the Wilts era took 100-110 shots per game, averaging around 40% from the 70s onward teams took 80-90 shots per game averaging 45-50%- meaning there were FAR less opportunities for Pts and rebounds, two stat categories Wilt excelled at. Not only that, his subpar playoffs performances resulted in losing playoff records against Bill Russell (1-7) and Willis Reed (0-2) no wonder he only has 2 rings. Don't bring up that Bill Russell argument either, Robert Horry has more rings than Jordan, Kobe and LeBron. By your logic I guess he's better than all of them right? Now on to guys like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird who can "compete" with Jordan. Larry Bird said MJ was god disguised as a human, and look up "the one and only time Magic Johnson trashed talked to Michael Jordan". Did I forget to mention he has better overall stats than both of them? MJ at the age of 40 averaged 26-5-6 while playing with cracked ribs and knee tendinitis. He made one of the worst defensive teams in the Wizards that year into one of the best with Rip Hamilton being the only notable player on the team. Before his knee injury they went 15-1 and after he went down they went like 2-10 and missed the playoffs. So......... please explain why Jordan is overrated?

Kuroc, Belov, Schmidt, prime Sabonis, Petrovic, Nikos Galis, and then the Bill Walton, Pete Maravich in college, then Michael, Kobe, Russell, on any level, on any court there has never been a better basketball player than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Wilt Chamberlain. I mean he average 50.4 PPG in a season. Now yea the pace of the game was faster, but who else could even has the energy to put up 50 points a game? With the faster pace? According to many who have done no research he played small weak white guys every game, which is false. Average height of today's NBA is only 1 inch more than his day. He played against HoF Centres more often than not with a smaller league(doesn't mean less competition, means more dense competition) and played Bill Russell one of the greatest defenders of all and time 145 times. He holds basically every rebounding record, in the games where blocks are available(112 games) he averaged 8.8. The only reason he didn't win as many rings as he should have was Bill Russell's Celtics. Not Bill Russell by himself, but his team which was full of future hall of famers. KZbin comments only allow so many words so I have to cut it short...

1. My greatest of all time is Michael Jordan. I saw him play. I know his stats. 2-4. The other three comprising my Mt Rushmore would be the 3 legendary centers: Kareem, Bill Russell, and Wilt Chamberlain (in any order, but I prefer Kareem at #2). Kareem for obvious reasons - his scoring record, his 6 MVPs and 6 titles, his skyhook. Russell won 11 titles. Never lost a Game 7. Greatest winner and defender ever. Possibly greatest rebounder if not guy below. Not a great scorer but could give you 20+ points in the biggest games. Chamberlain the most dominating player ever, and he played on two tremendous title teams. 100 points in 1 game, 55 rebounds in another, 50.4 ppg in one season, led league in assists in other, all-time top rebounder in rebounding average 5-6. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson tie for 5th and 6th places. I was a teen in the 80's. I saw how they dominated the league and how they popularized passing and all-around play within a team concept. Tremendous winners: Magic won the NBA Finals MVP in his rookie year, while the same year, Bird led the Celtics to a league-best 61-21 record after they'd gone 29-53 the year before. Then the next season (1980-81), his Celtics won the title, after they had to come back froim 3-1 deficit in Eastern Final against the powerful Philadelphia 76ers. 7. LeBron James (though I concede that LeBron may have surpassed Bird and Magic by now, but I like how Bird and Magic made their teams great from the very beginning, and up to the end of their careers). 8. Tim Duncan - best power forward of all time, and his Spurs teams were title contenders for EVERY SEASON of his long (19 seasons) career. 9. Shaq (most dominating player of his time, and if he had just played at a high level in his last 3-4 seasons, he may be ranked higher) 10-12. The three great guards: Kobe, Jerry West, and Oscar Robertson. Each has his own merit for being on the tenth spot. Kobe's great scoring and relentless drive, Jerry West's brilliance and clutch play, Oscar's tremendous all-around stats as well as being an assist leader while scoring over 30ppg in his best seasons. And I think any of the Top 7 above could be argued as the Greatest of All Time. But if you include Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, Oscar, and West too, I believe they also would have good arguments for the honor. So it's MJ, Kareem, Russell, Wilt, Bird and Magic, LeBron, Duncan, Shaq and the trio of guards Kobe, West, and Oscar. My top 12.

If Kareem had been allowed to go to the NBA early his all time scoring record would be ridiculously out of reach. And he would possibly be the all time leading rebounder.

Kareem gets my vote for greatest PLAYER. If you're talking greatest NBA player it's closer, but his high school / college resume is great to the point of being ridiculous...and that combined with a fantastic NBA career and the longevity puts him over the top.

Imagine a player with MJ's fade away Ray Allen's Jump shot Kobe's mentality LeBron's athleticism AI's crossover Magic's passing Hakeem's defense and the GOATNESS of Brian Scalabrine damn

My top 5 list has gone like this for a long time... 1. Michael Jordan 2. Kareem Abdul Jabbar 3. Larry Bird 4. Magic Johnson 5. Bill Russell It would be very difficult to move any of these players out of the top 5 and the reason why MJ eclipses Jabbar in my view, is because his NBA resume is even greater overall and he accomplished most of it within 11 FULL seasons with the Bulls as opposed to Kareem's 20.

Love this series. I hate how people think MJ is in a league of his own when compared to other legends. The man was insane but if I'd have to win a game to save my life I'd propobly pick Kareem first.

You forgot about all of the activism that surrounded Kareem as an African American basketball player and person in General in the 70s and 80s
