You’ve been helping me out a lot lately Casey thank you. I used to edit with Adobe premier pro about 11 years ago but I didn’t have a way to keep up with it because of the price. This has really helped me a lot to learn something new and hopefully start a new career some day. It’s been really hard to find out what to do with my life but your videos have been giving me a lot of hope for my future. I just want to keep learning and improving. Thanks again

Dude much appreciated. See I'm a self taught designer. Essentially that just means I've taught myself how to design websites, vectors, edit pictures and create notion graphics from watching hundreds of youtube videos and embracing the spirit of trial and error. Some times when it comes to utilising a new software I shy away and avoid trying the software out if it seems especially difficult. Which is essentially davinci resolve in a nut shell... A bunch of different menus and controls that end up looking super intimidating until you have someone show you otherwise. That being said I've been saying I wanted to learn motion graphics like really hunker down and learn motion graphics since like March of this year (2020) I've had davinci resolve for some times. But I've never been able to really use it because my pc was garbo. So when I got my new pc back in March was when. I decided I was gonna try this motion graphics thing out. But every time I started trying I got terrified and confused.
@1Korand4 жыл бұрын
Frankly there aren't many good videos out there to help out with fusion controls unless you really know what to search for. At first I would search things like motion graphics from davinci resolve. And would get poorly animated intro videos that don't talk about basics and only follow a specific tutorial format. Which I've never found helpful. But your videos really teach what the controls are and what they do. Which has really helped me out. It's like you're teaching people how to fish rather than just giving them the fish. Keep up the good work, and thanks a lot.

Thank you for this!!!! I wish that there were more tutorials which would go through all the "buttons and levers" of a single node, explaining how you use them AND when you might want to use them. In general it's tough to find entry level tutorials for more advanced software. Most people making tutorials seem to assume that if you're using robust software then you're probably already well versed in mograph / vfx concepts and the generic names for tools. And that may be a fair assumption about most viewers. I know plenty of BMD users are switching over from layer-based systems. But for wee folk like me who are just getting our toes wet and skipped over the layer-based software, it's really refreshing to find a tutorial which teaches not just where to find the relevant controls but also gets into the nitty gritty of the inspector modifiers.

Hi all. I'd agree, Davinci is great. However, I would like to add that no matter how great the subject matter is, it is nowhere near as useful if it is not conveyed well. That makes Casey's content different, and no offence to other creators, but better. As an, ahem, older viewer, I greatly enjoy Casey's presentation. It is not at all condescending but equally leaves nothing out. I also like the humour, it makes the episodes very 'conversational' which, for me, makes the absorption of the material easier and fun. Terrific stuff, as always. Thanks very much. All the best

looking for a good tutorial on doing realistic sparks using the Fusion particle system, any suggestions?
@iestynx Жыл бұрын
This was great. I've started playing around with it, but not quite getting the look I want whilst using footage as the input. Using Particular with After Effects, whe a person walks across the shot the particles seem to eminate out of them, a bit like Tinkerbell. But in Fusion it seems to generate new particles each frame without leaving a trail. I've tried different settings such as 'create particles every frame', though this does make it different, it's somehow worse. This must be a 3D thing.

*_HELP_* Okay, I am trying to follow along in DR myself as I watched this video, but I ran into a problem very early on: When I bring the right hand side of the pRender node down to the Background1 node, I get what you had the first time of Background1----Merger----MediaOut1 with the to particle dealing nodes above connected to just each other. Then I watch you do it again, and suddenly it's almost the same, except the bottom of pRender has a line connecting it to the top of the Merge node. When I try it, I cannot get pRender and Merge to have any lines connecting them as you do, no matter where I try connecting at. Please help! Assume only 3-4 hours of playing around in Fusion (or less) total when determining what I will understand LOL. While I'm asking one thing about Particles, here's another: I want the particles to have a whiter colored glow in the center of the blob, but the glow it gives off into the surroundings a darker blue (I'm trying to recreate the "blue fireflies" from the show The Expanse), how can I do that? Thank you either way, whether or not you can help or even just help on one of these two questions. Though I do hope for both answers. Thank you for your channel, it has taught me a lot about DR this past year or so.

Refreshing after seeing so many poor tutorials for Davinci. Less than 2 mins in and you've already given me more info than several tutorials combined.While the software may have it's merits in terms of functionality, it can be very convoluted and unfriendly to editing novices.
