If there is something readable in the reflection, don't forget to flip it horizontally!

Great stuff, Casey. Always enjoy your videos. One thing I was missing from the reflection in the glasses was the reflection of the passing scenery. Reflections on the wall of the train suggest there are windows across from the woman, so those reflections would be in her glasses too. Maybe duplicate the main footage, relocate the wall over the glasses, mask & track them like you did the train interior image, set to screen mode, and lower the transparency? That way the timing and shapes are the same as what's seen on the wall.

Was thinking the same thing. Then add some barrel distortion to the sunglasses's mask reflection to better sell it.

In this scenario adding blur to the reflection would probably help too, since the shot has a relatively shallow depth of field.

Hey , I came in here for the dead giveaway. I heard you mention it a few times - but didn't hear when that was happening. Kidding aside - I enjoyed the humor in this one. Thanks Casey. Entertaining ( and informative ) as usual. I think you should have put a persion being murdered on the glasses for some mystery and intrigue- kind of a hitchcock thing. cheers

I would add distortion at the edges of the lenses to really sell it, as glasses are not completely flat, the lenses taper off. Not sure how I'd go about it though, Maybe the warper tool run through the same planar tracker. Then I might add specular highlights that adjust with the motion, maybe just rotoscoping a gain mask that moves across the face. Then I would wonder what I'm doing with my life since people would have already been sold on the effect long ago.

Very nice tutorial. To create a kind of lens effect, you could map the tracked reflection map to a 3D Sphere and compose it into the glasses.

Excellent video. I’m sure it’s been suggested, but it would be really awesome if you posted links to the assets you use if you can legally, so that others can practice and follow along. No matter what still a neat video.

Nice one! How about the advanced version with head turning. 3D track the head position, render out 3d glasses model in Blender (with HDRI for reflections), and composite and color match it in fusion.

Very nice! My only issue here is the static highlights on the glasses. I would be inclined to mitigate that or animate it somehow I think. Not sure how you would do that tho LOL.

Sounds strange and it's not a big deal unless going for super-realism imo, just glorified speculation (hah) on how to push things a little more, but it's no big deal cuz it's super miniscule to what's already in the tutorial It's like, with the glasses moving, the slight curve in the lenses would sort of distort the reflection as her head moves; it's nothing big but it's a little uncanny valley with the lenses being so "flat" That and the lenses being plastic or coated glass, it has this sort of subsurface effect with the reflection, that and even with the high glare there might be a slight see-thru effect that might catch a bit of her eye, maybe like a soft/feathered mask in the middle of each lens to affect curvature and a very very small opacity? Thank you so much for the insight, learning so much about Fusion thru your vids!

8:38 why we duplicated the transform and planar transform nodes and runned them through the mask of the glasses if we already tracked the glasses before?
@CaseyFaris
@CaseyFaris 5 ай бұрын
It was to apply the movement to the mask separately. The mask still needs the movement applied, even though it's not being merged with the glasses themselves.
