I decided to go back to grad school in my early thirties. My school was in the middle of nowhere. When I had about 1.5 years left I had to move and commute 2 hours there and back on school nights. Classes didn’t start till 5pm and lasted 3 hours. It was long day that put me traveling dark country roads late at night. My 70 year old Dad drove me to those classes because he couldn’t bear the thought of his baby being stranded in BFE, alone, at night. He waited 3 hours in the car and was up way past his early bedtime. I could’ve driven myself. I didn’t mind driving myself. I was actually kind of embarrassed about it at first. My Dad passed almost 2 years ago. I am so grateful for those hours in the car now. Just us. Talking and laughing. I miss him so much. We never got to take the trip we talked about, but we had those school night trips and I’m glad.

This whole video just explains why Casey is just a wonderful human being. He was 17 years old when he got his girlfriend pregnant, most guys would just take off and leave, but Casey stayed. I find this very special because he obviously wasn't looking for any form of commitment at the time, I mean look at him right now, always travelling and making spontaneous trips to places all around the world. He could've lived life way easier and laid back without a little toddler constantly whining and crying, but he didn't, because he realised him and his girlfriend made a little mistake, and he took the consequences of it. And that's what I love about this man, even when things didn't go the way they were supposed to go, and his future looked a lot less adventurous with a kid at home, he realised he just couldn't leave a girl with a baby that doesn't have a father. I don't know who Owen's mother is and she'll probably never see this, but I really want her to realise that although she and Casey made a mistake, she is very lucky that Casey was the one who made the mistake with her, and not just some other guy. Flashforward to 2014, Casey got another kid with a beautiful woman, circumstances are better and life is probably a little easier. I have to say, I am really jealous of Francine, with such amazing parents and such an amazing big brother. Lots of love from the Netherlands!

many people say "aww this is so heartwarming" or "this is a nice story" but what they didn't notice is that this is how our parents feel about us the reason Casey made this is to tell us to be with our parents, more interaction with them. Everyone wants to be independent, but what we need without knowing is help, and support, and that's what our parents are here for to help their kids when they are weary, affraid, or confused.

+khizr zaheer Hardly. Most men don't get kids until they are already 30 if not older. Casey got his at 17. That small age gap is much easily crossed : you can connect with him a lot more easily because whatever he's going through is still kinda fresh in your mind. Also, by the time he's 13, you're barely 30 and fully capable of going on this sort of adventures (doing it at 45 is a lot harder). So yes, you can still be an awesome dad. But you're gonna have a MUCH harder time the later you have your kids in life.

My father never spent a lot of time with me because he was always working, he did what he had to in order to provide and i am extremely thankful, and i do not blame him for what he did. Being an adult you realize that without money you cannot support your family, and without work there is simply no money. But now he is retired and has all the time in the world, we are making up all kinds of lost time and i love it! We went on vacation not too long ago and he said that spending time with me was literally the best experience he had his whole entire life. That's all i needed hear. I love you dad!

I normally wouldn't spend 20 minutes watching any single video on KZbin but I always find time to watch your vids from start to finish. Your storytelling skills will likely lead 90% of the viewers of this video straight through to the end. Awesome work. Looking forward to seeing what your next adventure is.

Ok, I know I am 4yrs late, but I just saw this video today and it is just so beautiful. First off, Casey, you are such an inspiration to so many people, u probably don't even realize just how much of an inspiration you are. But I think to your son you are so much of an inspiration and more. And of course he may not show it through out his teenage years but that's all teenagers, so don't take it the wrong way. Remember u were a teen at one point and u just like every single teenager grow apart from their parents through their teens cuz we all think, "oh I am old enough now that I don't have to listen to my parents anymore!" Or at least something along those lines. But that does NOT mean they stop loving us or even stop from needing us. They are just at an age where they think they can now do everything on their own. But in reality our babies, no matter how old they get they will always need us. Its just when they are usually from 12/13yrs old til around 20ish yrs old they come back and realize they don't have to show off to friends or anyone to be cool. And most importantly they realize how important family is and that no matter what family, especially parents, are the true and real people who will always be there for them no matter good or bad situations. As friends grow up, move away, go to college and make new friends, or there's an argument and they lose their friends over something so dumb. But u can have a million arguments/fights with Mom and Dad but mom and dad never go away ok anyways so yeah lol sorry it wasn't supposed to be this long just couldn't help it. Thank u Casey for a peek inside your personal life. U really do have a handsome good smart young man there. U should be proud!!!!!

Sharon Zeman Really sick and tired of being generalized with teenagers. A longtime member of teenagerism right here and I can assure you, we don’t ALL drift away from our parents. Also, there exist teenagers that are really close with their parent(s) and are still very much so dependent on them.
