i do thnk the Mavic yields a better image in better conditions but i still can't imagine it will ever be as good as the Phantom. If i had to guess it looks like the Mavic is doing some post capture stabilization which crops the image (hence the narrower image) and gives a lower resolution in the process. I am most excited to really play with the Karma. Gopro has been making video cameras for 5 years and the Hero can capture amazing in all conditions.

I'm currently backpacking around *SE Asia* with that exact Phantom 4 bag for my drone. Casey's right, it's cumbersome as hell and not ideal for traveling, but it does also carry my laptop, GoPro, chargers, DSLR camera and shotgun mic, along with other miscellaneous items. So, as a *vlogger*, the backpack actually works out quite well for traveling with all my gear! For Casey's needs, I totally understand his decision to go with the *Mavic*. Convenience is incredibly nice, especially when he's already carrying around his large camera rig all day, EVERYWHERE!

Casey you gotta get in touch with DJI and figure out whats wrong with your Mavic. They have stated this is the same sensor as what is in the P4. The glass is a little different but that shouldn't create such softness and off temperature color. If you're footage is correct, DJI is going to get a lot of these shipped back.

I don't believe that this image quality will be the same found in the production model. There might be some AF issue or something that can even be corrected by a firmware update. Makes no sense having same sized sensors as the P4 and having such different image quality.

What's wrong with his Mavic is that he has not set the focus. The Mavic Pro is user-focusable (which granted, is different than other DJI hardware). He only needs to set the focus to infinity, and either doesn't realize it, or doesn't care.

Andy Zagar id say Mavic, it's more affordable and the camera doesn't have a very obvious fish eye lens. Also it's very responsive. However at the end of the day it's your choice, and waiting for a full review for each would be a good idea.

Go for the Karma. The quality is much better than the Mavic and you are getting a Drone with a GoPro and a gimbal. Plus the size for quality tradeoff between both makes the Karma better.

EvilJamesGuy It's not as sharp, but that's a very different issue. The footage you see in Casey's video is all out of focus. The link in my previous comment takes you to a tweet Casey posted saying he wasn't using the focus properly.

the phantom 4 looks like you put the sharpness add from premiere to +400.. the soft image of the mavic looks way better and fits way more when combining multiple recording devices. (in my opinion ofc.)

I see where Casey is coming from but look at it from a viewers perspective. Imagine for a whole year your diving a Lamborghini that looks and sounds great then you trade it in for a Corvette. Both are great cars but one is obviously better looking and faster. My point is that you set the bar with the quality of your videos with not only the content but the quality. If you were going for everyday convenience with your vlogging camera wouldn't you use a lighter, more portable camera even though the quality isn't as good? I personally wouldn't sacrifice a little bit more convenience for lower quality. I vote for the Phantom. Edit... I just saw IJustine's Mavic video and her quality was outstanding. Maybe Casey didn't have the right settings selected? We all know he doesn't like to read directions lol.
