You have no idea (or maybe you do) how much I appreciated the comment that the side sills only burn you if you're a creampuff. So many car reviewers, journalists, etc. feed that sensationalism, but the reality is no, they don't burn your leg, they're just warm.

You should make this into a series, it looks fairly straightforward to make, and it flows really well - and hopefully it plays well with the algorithm

A great review. I appreciate the pointing out the silly whining about using Chrysler parts bin parts and gaps. Who buys a hardcore sports car for the key, the remote, the radio, the perfect gap spacing?

Also worth mention of how relatively light and balanced these cars are. People are often mislead into believing these are awkward sports cars. Opposite is true and they did dominate European Sports Car Championship...and Lemans.

I liked it in the original Grand Turismo. There was an NA race as a made in Japan fan boy, I did the nsx, fail fail fail. Wait the Viper has a big v10. Yep first try.

Cool vid...owner of serial # 00002 here. On my 8th Viper and just cant get enough. With proper restorative maintenance, bushings, mounts etc and fresh tires these early cars are among the top analog drivers cars to ever exist. Every car guy must own and drive a properly setup Gen 1/2 Viper.

Funny enough, during this time, Chrysler owned Lamborghini for a short period. The original truck engine was sourced out to Lamborghini to make it into a performance motor. One of my favorite lesser known stories and I like to think this car is what prompted Lamborghini to switch the V10 later on down the line. Anyway, great video Casey! I’ve been watching every day so far! Keep up the fantastic work!

I own a 94 viper and love it Casey. When I set out to buy a viper I didn't even want a first Gen until I drove one.. And I tossed the idea of a Gen 3 and went all in for a 94. Mine has belanger headers and exhaust on it the exhaust doesn't even get hot. I been working on slowly just upgrading the rubbers and stuff in the suspension. It took me two times dumping coolant to clear it out also when putting new coolant. I just love the simplicity of the viper and your right it always starts and drives fine everytime.. It certainly is nice to drive after living in such a techy world. We also own a challenger 392 6mt wide body that's a blast as well.. But the viper is just such a fun car. Loud, top off, radio on. Cruiser

Mighty Wings 💯 I'm too old to be a student in genius garage, but I'd love to be there. My 98 Camaro has similar traits, cheap plastic interior, etc but I bought it for the powertrain. Add good tires, hpde suspension w penske shocks, stroker LS3... idgaf what others think, I love it.

The reason there were so many parts borrowed from other cars was because they (the designers, builders, management) didn't know if there even was going to be a second year car prior to the car's North American debut in Detroit.

Back in the day (similar era) my parents had Cadillac Fleetwoods. They had the same attached to the door seat belts. My parents actually got a discount on insurance because you could leave the seat belt buckled and you could get in and out without buckling. It was considered a "safety" feature. lol

Casey, I am purely asking out of curiosity and not being a jerk, but, was that Viper ever wrecked? I ask cause I've worked on Vipers and when there is the slighest gap between the front bumper and hood, usually it was an accident. In some instances, I've come across the owners or sales people opening and shutting the hood in the incorrect places causing fatigue in some spots. Just asking, no disrespect

People who say "that's a truck engine!" don't really get it. The GM LS motors were based on truck engines as well. The beauty of that is they're designed to be brutally rugged. Can't have the bread and butter trucks (That makes GM all their money) having engine issues. So putting it (in all aluminum form, of course) into a lightweight sports car like a Corvette and you end up with what is known as a bullet proof engine. Same with the V10 in the Viper.

I drove a 95 Dodge Viper it was an amazing experience when I first started driving it we were in a big open parking lot and the guy just let me feel the car out and do burnouts and loop it out so that I didn't kill myself when we were driving in the corners on normal roads and yes driving in normal country roads it's actually a lot of fun in that car as long as you don't slam the throttle as you're going through a corner which you shouldn't anyways you're good to go you just got to remember that they are Torquay cars

The door mounted seat belts... Yes they are sketchy, and as you might have guessed, they are the result of government regulation. Back in the late 70s, the Carter administration attempted to make us safer by requiring that all cars have either a driver's side airbag or "passive restraint" seatbelts by the mid 80s. Since airbags were still too expensive, what we got in many cases were motorized shoulder belts (which still required a manual lap belt) or door mounted seatbelts which were supposed to be left buckled at all times, allowing you to slide in and out of the car beneath the buckled seat belts. It works horribly, nobody ever did it, and if your door opened in a crash you had the opportunity to be "thrown clear" of the accident. 🌈✨🎶The more you know🎶
