Exactly, and a 24 year old radiator is going to be pretty questionable even if it had been adequate from the factory - cars that age, you can guarantee someone at some point hasn't kept up with regular cooling flushes - even if it has been properly maintained it'll likely be at least partially blocked up regardless. Stick a modern rad in, it'd make all the difference.

The Viper is a man's vehicle. People say we'll it does 0-60 in about 4.6 seconds, but it has 450 ibs/ft Torque, no stability control, no traction control, no airbags, the interior inside has hard plastic with white gauges. It's no surprise that a lot of Vipers been wrecked. You can get better overall performance from a 2020 911 Carrera, but it took a man to drive a Viper as it wasn't tended to be a daily driver

@mcearl80735 жыл бұрын
Mike Morris Ok, I’m glad someone else was thinking this same thing. If I was in his shoes I’d have definitely done the show so I don’t begrudge him in any way for that. It was probably fun and paid him to buy a bunch of cars that must have still been his to keep. But damn did it look completely manufactured and fake and if they are only 11 minute episodes I bet they are just clip after clip of the highlights of each car scenario. I’ll check it out if I can do so without paying anything more than I already am, otherwise I will pass or wait till I can see it without paying more. I know there will ultimately be people calling me cheap and whatever or “wanting it for free” which I’m not and I don’t. I pay for a ton of subscriptions already, if it is included in something I’m paying for already I’ll watch it, if not I won’t, it’s not that I’m cheap, it’s that it didn’t peak my attention enough to be worth it for me. No disrespect to Tyler though, he got paid and I would have too but that’s the problem with TV really. People doing things they probably wouldn’t be doing if they either weren’t getting paid, or had to pay for it themselves or even if they had any control over what they were doing.

I won a Viper test drive on a radio call-in show back when it was new. It took place on the Flemish breakdown and recovery service (VAB)'s test track and it was tipping down with rain... and, actually, I didn't think it was all "that" scary. It was traction limited, sure, but the weight was up front and I found it fairly controllable, even under those circumstances. The thing which stuck with me from that test was the gear lever being in a really awkward position. It made sense from a "not moving your hand too far away from the steering wheel"-perspective, but it messed with my muscle memory big time, at the time,

Tyler Hoover, Now that you have replaced the exhaust, please consider installing a cold air intake (or otherwise optimizing the intake air rate and temperature), an adjustable ecu fuel rate device (i.e. Power Commander in the motorcycle world), and then bring it to a dyno shop. Look at the Torque and Horsepower curves that it is currently making, then adjust the fuel/air ratio to get the best performance possible. In addition, the peak HP listed is measured at the wheel (rather than at the "brake" or output to transmission clutch pack). Now, for that car, add 85 horsepower and tell people that number for horsepower. The Manufacturers, after all, publish their numbers at the brake.

Try some auxiliary heavy CFM fans on the radiator they have ones so strong they can blow you over from standing position lol. Common on these cars

Fix the cooling issues and replace the shocks so it stops crashing every time you hit a pavement joint.

Temp is fine, it’s built to run that temp, but I had the rad on my 93 rebuipt and changed it from a 2 core to a 3 core which did the trick.

I love you show man. Try putting a giant oversized radiator in it. It’ll get more coolant through. Hopefully that works.

Old hard tires are trouble on a Viper. They should be changed every 5 years or so depending upon condition. Pirelli P Zeros can also be used as the Michelin’s are sometimes not available in certain sizes depending upon the production run.

Namaste, this is what KZbin has done. Given simple, pure at heart people like Tyler to do what they love in life and share with world or better, with like minded people like us. In cacophony of high powered cars, with expensive locales like that shown in erstwhile Top gear, now the grand tour, people like Tyler, Chrisfix, Samcrac, Mighty car mods and Tavarish et. al are a breath of fresh air. It feels like you are watching your pals in these videos and also they are very much relatable. Happy motoring everyone. :)

Sounds like a raspy old work truck lol... prob would have been a better throaty sound with proper mufflers.... but maybe it's better in person?

It's crush-bent tubing and a cheapo glasspack that usually gets fitted to trucks. There's no way it'd sound good on there.

FYI 345s fit the rear with no rubbing. Got a set of the toyo proxes in a 345 instead of the 335 pilot sports and paid only $500 for the rear 2 instead of the $500 per pilot sport tire. Drawback is you can’t drive the car in the rain or on a damp road. You’ll spin out.

chrysler cooling setups were always borderline usable and the viper was no exception. you really have to upgrade to a more efficient radiator and a higher flow electric fan to cure the cooling problem.
