This past weekend I judged the Crown Championships of Cosplay with 3 other judges at C2E2! C2E2 stands for Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo and this craftsmanship cosplay contest brings out the best of the best from all around the world.

It was really beautiful to see how supportive everyone was. For a long time I thought I was just romanticizing my experiences backstage because either my friends won or I won, but being a judge I got to see from an outside perspective and the love really is there. It was incredible to be apart of something so wonderful.

At the first C2E2 I attended, I saw your Ariel ball gown in the contest! the amazing competitors inspired me so much.

Also, I would love a video(s) on competing. I was in the 2021 competition but was clueless about so much. I didn't have a book for the judges or even a copy of my daughter's original drawing. I didn't take very many pictures of the creating process either.

Do most build books look like the one you showed here? It was so fancy that it looked like an actual published book or magazine!

No they do not, I used this one as an example because she provided one for each of the judges and we asked if we could keep them. The majority of contestants actually keep their build book so I wouldn't have had time to film b-roll of them. I do think the amount of photos and the costume breakdown in hers is very important and other cosplayers could take note of that. She also bolded words which really helped guide us judges to what we needed to see. With all that being said, I plan to have a segment of my "how to compete in cosplay competitions" video that I should have done in May.
