Hi sir, why does the sales go to the general ledger and not the sales ledger?

Cash sales go directly to the General Journal while credit sales go to the Sales Ledger.

Remember that a two column cash book does not have discount columns ok.

If the money is brought forward do u also put it on the debit side??

It depends, if it’s the cash account yes but sometimes the bank account has what is called an overdraft where the balance would be brought down on the credit side.
