I want to validate how you’re feeling! I think it makes so much sense and giving yourself some grace to feel the feels is okay! I moved across the country about a year ago, without any of my family though so a little different. It took a few months and I would just highly suggest finding the little things that bring you joy. Find a new favorite coffee spot. A new favorite park for you and the boys. Decorating your favorite cozy spot in your house, etc. You’ve got this!

Thank you for this video. I personally have been waiting for it, wondering how you are doing. The reason I enjoy your videos are because you share about your life. I don't watch the cash stuffing videos of others when it is only about the cash stuffing. I want to learn about the people I choose to spend my time watching. It will take time to get settled and making friends can even take a year but you will. I'm looking forward to the shop opening.

Solid six months after the move, but a part of the comfort comes with routine. When the grocery store is familiar, you've been to the post office a bit, you know when the schedule for activities at the library. After a move there are all these decisions you have to make all over again. When you're running errands, the right order to do them. When is the traffic the lightest, where's a good place to get coffee? Plan your ideal week, try to do those things, PLAN on there being hiccups (because you're in the information gathering stage) and...see what works best for your family. Not knowing which store did or did not have my favorite creamer was a super unfun game when I moved. So many "simple" tasks to reacquaint with new surroundings.

In my experience it takes about 6 months to start to feel at home and the older you are the harder and takes longer to adjust. The kids adjusted before and easier than we did. Did they miss their friends yes but they made new friends and developed a new routine. You will adjust and everything will fall into place.

Definitely feel the feelings!! Having a good cry with someone who you trust and screaming when alone in the car can let out some of the uncomfortable feelings in a healthy way. You don't want to stuff feelings. Everything your talking about is normal, leaving friends behind is very painful, how about giving one of them a call? Do something physical, like taking a long hike or if you wish some deep cleansing breaths and maybe a little yoga. I hope some of these things we are saying can bring you some peace, Jordan. I did not need a 300,000 to a 500,000 home. The prices of the older homes were just that high. So we moved back to Alabama. We still have a home here thank the Lord we hadn’t sold it. Your energy is still there and it’s honest! Moving is hard. I’ve never moved far away (other than college/university), but I know people who have. Can your boys join Boy Scouts or 4-H, to meet friends. (The boys will be fine. Kids are pretty adaptable to moves. Most of us don’t keep the same friends from elementary school forever. Some do, but many don’t. And it’s okay!) The boys joining a club will also mean you can get involved and meet people. Also for you see if there is a women’s network for entrepreneurs in your area. You might have to wait until your parents get here to watch the boys. (And would your boys consider public school next year? It’s a new area and ideally you won’t have the same problems you did before! Again, would give them a place to meet people!)

Welcome to Iowa, sorry you are struggling. I've lived in various states and it usually took 6 mos to a year to get used to a new part of the country. (I don't have kids) If you decide to get an apartment read the lease carefully. There are places that don't allow you to run a business out of your rental. I've seen many KZbinrs run their businesses out of a climate controlled storage unit. You might look at a homeschooling group in the Ames or other outlying areas. In Iowa we are used to driving miles for resources.

Thank you! I think I just need more time. Ohhh very smart, I'll make sure to read the lease. I initially thought I would get a storage unit but the more I think about it I'd really benefit from being able to set up a designated filming spot and being able to run cutting machines at odd hours. (Things I won't be able to do at home or in a storage unit.) I'll consider weighing the options and I'll bring you guys along for the ride. ❤❤❤ I'll continue searching for homeschool groups, I hadn't considered Ames but you're right I may just need to widen my search a little bit. I'm sure we will figure it all out.. I'm just all in my feels this week.

How are you liking IA? We moved from CO to IA 3.5 years ago. As much as I loved CO and want so badly to go back, it’s gotten so bad there that we’re pretty much stuck in IA, especially since our daughter wants to move here because even with her excellent, we’ll paying job in CO, she’ll never be able to buy a house in CO. Here, in IA, she can get a nice house for way, way, WAY less than she’d be paying for rent. Hope you will be very happy in IA. People are very nice, it’s a safe place to live…but not a whole lot of scenery, compared to CO. Good luck to you and your boys.

I have moved lots of times due to my husband being in the military and the gloomy feeling after a move is completely normal! It took me like a year because I stayed in my feelings! 🫠😂 It will take a while to adjust and rebuild. I’m not sure what area you are in, but I am born and raised in Iowa (and my entire family is still in Iowa) and I know my sister homeschools in Ames and I don’t think what she does is not religious based. Maybe it’s just the area? I have family all over the state so if you are comfortable to let me know what area I might have some friends there that could give me some info about the area! I have my own KZbin channel that has my email listed if you want to reach out. Hang in there!
