Sorry to hear of your experience - it seems rampant these days. Just not worth the pain, even for the good guys who might be out there, there can be problems (my own tale of woe). I have the same 911 model you do, and used spacers as well instead of replacing the studs for the same reason - others commenting on just snapping studs with the potential pain of drilling out and replacing. The note on the ATV lift, furniture dolly does work for positioning under the car; however, I rented an engine lift to place my engine on the ATV stand (with the transmission on the rolling furniture dolly), since it was SOOO much easier to get the engine positioned to put on the transmission as a solo project. I'm thinking of replacing my exhaust, but since it's running ok right now, I'm delaying it. I don't have heat (ie no heat exchanger) so getting the exhaust on the car was easier than what you had to experience.

Thanks! Most expensive build of my life and it's "cheap" by 911 standards

Great to see you back at it, it’s been too long. I’ve watched your series twice and will be gearing up to watch it a 3rd time. My SC backdate engine is broken down and ready for rebuild this summer. Keep going to end 👍🏻

I agree the guy was not upfront with you but regardless you got a great exhaust for a good price, you don't want it, I'd be happy to buy it off of you. Glad to see you back on the 911.

The price for the exhaust isn't the point; the point is he intentionally did not disclose damage/repair to something he was selling, posted photos from one side, and stated it was in 'good shape'. When I contacted him after I received it, he just ignored me. That's dirtbag behavior.

Pelican is an awesome resource, but you need to be careful for sure. Scammers are everywhere from straight up stealing your money, to misrepresenting items. Most of the time the forum self polices but you still need to be weary

I made the assumption that someone who runs a side business catering to 911 owners and is a long standing member would be super trustworthy. I was wrong. Lesson learned.

@@ADDvanced yup. Anyhow, great content from you in general. Glad to see you back on the 911. I have been following this build since I got my 77 and it’s helped a lot. I traded a rat rod 76 bmw 2002 and some extras for it. I think from another video of yours, you owned one of those also. I like your style! Keep it up.

Is there any possibility that the aluminium will melt and soften being so close to exhaust manifold while you're driving 200+mph? Shitty deal, sorry to hear. But it seems novadays scammers are everywhere and they make it hard to try to sell anything.

I mean... the heads are aluminum.... so are the jugs. Aluminum is used all over engines... I think it will be fine but IDK. We'll see!
