You should’ve explained more about how the heat exchanger is hooked up with the pipe openings on the exchanger were and how they’re hooked up in a little bit more about why the oil lines are going to need to be changed and held the SSI Effects a change. Thank you

I'm wondering about the SSI exhaust. In the Excellence Magazine, they had an article saying the SSI exhaust added 12. HP but talking to my Porsche mechanic he said it does not make anywhere near that HP. We had to take it off and the Dansk Muffler due to the smog law. The mechanic said you won't notice the difference. The Mechanic we go to knows his stuff. I'm wondering from you if that article if it is not accurate or not? They show dyno results of the Porsche SSI exhaust making 12 HP. Maybe they exaggerated a bit? We prefer to have it on and do an engine build-up with more HP but it has to pass smog and physical inspection. Then you have Gavin Gruesome wants to ban all gas cars and only have electric cars. I don't want an electric Porsche and I'm sure you don't either. I just wish the Porsche 1978 911 SC would pass smog with the SSI exhaust on it.

Are your heat exchangers all made of stainless steel? Thank you

Hugh, SSI's are all stainless steel, but we can supply a variety of heat exchangers, some of which are in mild steel.

What I'm wondering is what is the power output and torque?" one guy at a Porsche show said that it does not do anything and it is just for looks. But one time a guy at the next Porsche show said is that SSI Exhaust?" I said yes it is. He said Man, I can tell a huge difference. He was saying how it adds 26 more HP on his Porsche. I saw a site that was selling this Exhaust and it said it added 26 HP. I forget the torque. I am wondering you're thoughts. I read different answers in the Pelican forums giving different Dyno results what it adds saying No more than 10-15 HP at the most if you are lucky. What do you think, I have that on a 1978 911 SC bored out to a 3.2 Liter with 964 cams. It feels way faster than stock. I look forward to your message.

26 extra horses sounds optimistic. The truth is that the only way to tell is to do a back to back test on the same dyno, and ideally on the same day. The butt dyno is notoriously inaccurate, and confirmation bias is notorious - I spent money, looking for performance, therefore I find performance! The other factor is what headers are being replaced by SSI's? Not all headers are created equal. Every indication is that SSI's are less restrictive than factory heat exchangers, and sound crisper, but if you want large power increases, expect large bills.

Thank you for your reply. I have a Dansk muffler with a single outlet. I can feel a difference. I'm sure the dual exhaust gives more power than the single muffler?" It's my Dad's Porsche. It's Oak Green Metallic with Fuch rims. That he wanted to look like RSR rims. I never saw the manual so I thought the Porsche had the 180 HP but the manual said 170 HP when I found out. I was told by my Dad's friend that the Porsche now is around 235 HP he thinks if that sounds right?" having it bored to a 3.2 Liter with 964 cams with SSI exhaust and a Dansk muffler. I was hoping for 240-255 HP?" I look forward to your message.

If you want to know how much power your car makes, get it to a dyno. If you want it to make more power, ask a reputable specialist what can be done. Enjoy your car!
