@@shivtim I agree. I guess it depends. I know some people in grad school and living outside of their home city or country and they're not in the mood to put down roots or spend a lot of money. So they get a very basic utilitarian setup since, let's face it, grad school is research, sleep, eat if you're lucky. But as someone who has always been an apartment dweller, I choose mine based on longevity and livability. Even if I know i'll only be there for one lease term.

I would agree with him that the upper balcony isn't the best for socializing, since guests would have to walk through your bedroom to access it. And it's also much narrower. I'd use the bottom for socializing, but I'd definitely use the top for myself. I'd have a little lounge out there, fr.

I remember when cash showed this apartment, and I thought this is one of the best, unique apartments in city hands down. And it's still one of the best apartments in city. I would say it's even better because of how he set up the apartment. His place could have been in a scene from the original teenage mutant ninja turtles movie. That's how cool his place is to me. I hope he enjoys this apartment for as long as he wants to be there.

@@willymaykit1482Note how you said in Vermont. This apartment isn’t in Vermont. Note how you also mentioned the fact of it being 3K for a mortgage but then said it’s less than 3K. So is it 3K or is it less? You can’t have both. And if that’s just the mortgage how expensive does the house and land actually cost. At the end of the day he is actually paying less than he would for this 5 bedroom home you mentioned. He doesn’t pay property tax, doesn’t pay for upkeep, doesn’t have a mortgage, and doesn’t have the ridiculously high house payment plus whatever down payment he would have to pay to purchase this metaphorical 5 bedroom home in Vermont.

I have a 3 bdrm/2 bath house with a two-car garage, four-seasons room, 1000’ sq bi-levei deck, hot tub, and in-ground pool on almost 2 acres in the middle of my city. My granddad bought the property in 1948 and built the house. He never subdivided the land to sell like all the neighbors did. I’ve lived here almost 30 years. Very nice to have, and I’m so grateful. But it’s really too big for me, and the taxes are insane! Plus, I have to pay a yard service because I’m disabled now and I can no longer mow it all by myself like I used to. I’d absolutely LOVE to live in a place like his!! Love, love, love it!!!❤

l like the way you check out the neighborhood--- it enriches the tours. l worked in NYC years ago, and l'm drawn to clips, like yours, that recall the all-inclusive feeling that makes the city so brilliant.

Lovely apartment. I would love to walk along the sidewalk sharing my bagel with the Pigeons,we have many in our garden, lots of different English garden birds, squirrels too, they are all fed well and welcome. These Pigeons were lovely to see walking along the sidewalk.

Right?! It’s more like a townhouse. Or a brownstone. Really neat place.

Ben's place is sweeeeet! I LOVE the upper west side! I dated someone who lived in that neighborhood, and I'd love to have a place there. Your video made me homesick for NYC.

I’m impressed! This is the largest one bedroom apartment I’ve ever seen in NYC, that comes with outdoor spaces. His bedroom is bigger than a lot of living rooms…and it has a full en-suite bathroom?! Shut the (secured, gated) front door! Thirty-five percent rent increase after a year and a half? OMG! I grew up in the Bronx, and left NYC in 1990. When I was a renter, yearly leases went up by 3%-1 yr, 6%-2 yrs and 9%-3 yrs. After my 3 year tenancy ended, the landlord eliminated the 3 year lease option. Landlords can be such crooks, but this guy got a great deal, even with the increase. I can’t afford to rent a room in NYC now, but I love living vicariously through the videos of those who are living their best life there.

We have some older apartment blocks in the city and one has a truly unique house on the roof. They did a budget revamp to sell it, but it still looks like your grandparents house from the 60s. All the space that would normally be set aside for utilities is bare - no aircon and the owners have to walk up 6 flights of stairs. Seeing Ben's deck reminded me that developers haven't always been able to parcel every square foot for $$$ - I hope Ben enjoys it for many years.

See? That is a correct one. Yet the sister unit is way better because the patio has no common building utilities like the lighting and the fumes exit, so it's a huge plus. I'll take the other unit for sure. With the big space is enough a d you don't even need the other two. Price is way better than other spots and it's okay-ish size let's say.
