The gaps in between keys on my ctx 3000 are wide just like yours too. Everything works fine but I'm quite bothered that dust will accumulate overtime with these gaps on the keys.

How do I adjust the volume of the bass

To adjust the split bass volume make sure that the selected PART is "KEYBOARD" on the display. If it's not, short press (SP) the PART/MIXER button so the red LED light comes on. Then use the +/- buttons to step through the various modes - e.g. "1-8 Rhythm", "1-9 Song Sys", etc. You want "1-9 Keyboard". Next SP the PART/MIXER button again so the red LED light is off. Now long press (LP) the PART/MIXER button. Use the left-right arrows (numbers 1 and 3 on the keypad) to select PART 3 - this relates to L1, i.e. the first split in the lower half of the keyboard - and "3" should be flashing on the display. Use the up/down arrows (keypad numbers 5 and 2) to select the various parameters - e.g. "On Part", "Volume", "Pan", "Rev Send", etc. Choose "Volume" and now you can adjust it with either the data wheel, the -/+ buttons, or press NUM(0) on the keypad followed by a 3 digit value. Sometimes I need more bass, so I will actually lower the volume of the other tones (U1 and U2) for better balance. I hope that helps. All the best.

Where is the volume sitting on split

It's in the MIXER section. Several others have asked the same question, so it might be you've already solved it (see other comments below). If not, simply long press (LP) MIXER button. Then take a look at the bottom of the display. Does it say "MIXER KEYBOARD"? - if it does then you're in the correct place. If it doesn't, then you need to change the MIXER PART - so short press (SP) PART button and the red LED light will come on. Now use the -/+ buttons to change it to "1-9 KEYBOARD". SP PART button to turn of the red LED light. Now you should be back in MIXER mode, and here you can change various parameters, including volume. Use the up/down arrows (2 & 5 on the keypad) until you get to volume. Then you can adjust the value from 0-127. The first column refers to upper 1 (U1) - i.e. the main tone on the keyboard. The second column refers to upper 2 (U2), which will give you a layered tone. Use the left/right arrows (1 & 3 on the keypad) to select each column. The third column adjusts lower 1 (L1), so that's your split tone. The fourth column adjusts lower 2 (L2), which is a layered tone on your split. I hope that makes sense and will help. This is where the MIXER comes into play. First of all create the split and set up the sounds you want for each area of the keyboard. For a simple split the right hand area is R1 and the left hand area is L1 - these can also have additional layers R2 and L2 respectively. To adjust the balance of each of these (R1, R2, L1, L2) hold down the PART/MIXER button. On the lower part of the display you should see MIXER KEYBOARD. If it says something else then press the PART/MIXER button so the red light comes on and use the -/+ buttons on the keypad until the display reads "1-9 Keyboard". Press the PART/MIXER button again so the red light goes out. Now you can adjust various parameters for each keyboard part. Can you see the numbers 1 through to 9 on the display? 1 to 4 relates to each layer/split - 1=R1, 2=R2, 3=L1, 4=L2. Use the left (1) and right (3) arrows on the keyboard to scroll along the line. Use the up (5) and down (2) arrows to select the different parameters - PART ON/OFF, VOLUME, PAN, REVERB, CHORUS, DELAY. Select VOLUME and now you can adjust the volume for the chosen keyboard part - R1, R2, L1, L2. Remember for a simple split without layers you will be adjusting part 1 and part 3. I hope that helps. @@Projectfinderfee No problem. I also find that the acoustic bass is weaker with a piano tone, so I reduce the piano to around 80 and push the bass up to maximum. If you have an expression pedal you can set that to control the volume of just the piano (right hand split) so you can make adjustments as you play. All the best.

Absolutely! Splits and layers can all be adjusted - volume, pan, effects, on/off. The CTX has 4 hand-played keyboard parts - U1 and U2 for the right side and L1 and L2 for the left side. To adjust volume you need to use the PART/MIXER. Firstly, short press the PART/MIXER button so the red LED comes on and check that the display shows "1-9 Keyboard". If it doesn't use the -/+ buttons on the keypad to scroll through the different part groups. Once you've got "1-9 Keyboard" press the PART/MIXER again so the red LED goes out. Now you're ready to adjust each layer. This time do a LONG press on the PART/MXER button and now you're in mixer mode. The numbers 1-9 on the lower right side of the display refer to each part within the keyboard group. 1 = U1, 2 = U2, 3 = L1, and 4 = L2. Use the left/right arrows (1 and 3 on the keypad) to move along the row of numbers - each one will flash in turn. Then use the up/down arrows (2 and 5 on the keypad) to select the parameter you want to adjust - on/off, volume, pan, reverb, chorus, delay. Change the values using the data wheel, or the -/+ buttons on the keypad, or press NUM (0) on the keypad and then type a 3 digit value. A long press on EXIT (4) will get you out of mixer mode and back to the normal display. Save your settings as a registration and then you'll be able to retrieve them with a single button press. Each registration button can have different mixes and settings, and there are 16 registration banks with 8 buttons each. Hope that helps. All the best.

Hello Stewart, when playing an Organ Tone I find that the lower part of the keyboard can be quite loud in comparison to the upper section of the keyboard. Is it possible to split the keyboard with the same sound and reduce the volume of the L/H part? Your posts are very instructive and easy to follow. Keep up the good work.

Yep. Definitely. Create a split and just put the same organ tone on L1 and then you can adjust the level in the Mixer. Another cool thing to do is to add a bass tone to the lower register (left hand area) of a piano tone - it helps to give the piano a bit more weight. Select Piano on U1 and Piano on L1 so that it sounds like one single piano even though you've got a split. But now you can add a Bass on L2 to thicken up the lower register, and obviously you've still got room add to add a layer to U1 with a U2 tone, such as strings. If you use an expression pedal you can choose which layers it responds to, as you play. With organ tones in mind, you could adjust L1 and transpose it down one octave to create a sub bass. Yes, sort of. You can save and load individual TONES, which will be edits of the presets. One of my recent videos shows how to get started with editing the presets, and then you can name and save them onto a pendrive. From there you could send that data via email to another user and they could load into their CT-X. i hope that answers your question a little.
