I used to own an older model for basic recording of songs (bass, drums, strings) and wondering if this would be worth my time to re-record my music on it. Since it has a MIDI output, I know I can connect to my laptop using a MIDI/USB cable. I'm a "Low-end Andy" because I can only afford so much on something that could be useful for my needs.

Hi there, no you can't load any additional sounds into this one. Anything by Casio that starts with CTK-3*** will be able to sample a sound and use it an an instrument though. Thanks for that. The Casio keyboard I have was a free-bee gift so I'm not married to it. My current home studio rig has a Yamaha AG03 as the USB interface to my Macbook but it doesn't have midi. I'm a working pro musician (read: low income) so I have to be very $ conscious. If the interface is more money than a second hand USB/MIDI keyboard controller, I'm better off getting a different keyboard. The linked article makes good reading though and I'll watch for used bits of gear based on your suggestions. Thanks again
