The MDV106 has proven to be a very popular, high-quality, affordable Diver Style quartz watch. Over the last few years, many of us have glady spent about $40-$50 for the watch, which is often called the "Duro" and the "Marlin" due to the fish illustration on the face and the back of the watch. Some folks have even been pleasantly surprised by extremely low "clearance" prices at local Walmart stores. But the watch is NOT being discontinued by Casio. In fact, in the last year or so, Casio has released an updated "International" version called the MDV107 (without the fish illustration). They've also introduced more colors and included metal bracelets on certain models (while still offering lower-priced versions with standard, resin watch bands). Casio has also released a smaller MDV10 watch which looks very similar to the MDV107. This video doesn't include any information about the MDV10. (...because I don't have the MDV10.)
The MDV106 (and MDV107) features a solid metal case, a screw-down case back and a screw-down crown. It is water resistant to 200 Meters (20Bar). It is a simple, 3-hand analog design with a date window at the 3:00 position. In my experience with several MDV106 watches, they are accurate to within 7 or 8 seconds per month, with some performing much better than that! The battery will last about 3 years.
The MDV106 is also extremely popular among those who like to modify watches. It's very easy to change the watch band and there are countless compatible bands and bracelets available from a variety of courses. Some folks prefer the "NATO" style strap, which would be very easy to install. Meanwhile, there are lots of resources out there for those who want to modify the inside of the watch. If you are so inclined, you may want to swap out the hands, for example. And plenty of folks have also found replacement crystals, using material like sapphire glass. The possibilities seem endless.
Here's a list of the model names for the different variations of the MDV106 and MDV107 currently available. Please note that if the model name has a "D" after the number 106 or the number 107 then this indicates it includes a metal bracelet instead of a resin watch band.

You may also see any of these MDV-107 models without the letter "D" in the model name, indicating that they will have resin watch bands instead of metal bracelets.
Also, when I see any Casio and/or G-Shock watches for sale, there is some inconsistency in the naming. Sometimes there's a "dash" between the first set of letters and the first set of numbers in the name. Sometimes the dash isn't there. For example, the GW-6900 may also be called the GW6900. The MDV-106 may also be called the MDV106. The titles I put onto my videos often reflect this inconsistency.
