I've had one for about 5 months and it's my favorite Gshock I've ever owned. Definitely a hidden gem. Although just to add some information: All 5000u's are made in Japan. However there are 2 lines for these watches. The JP version which is meant for the Japanese Domestic Market and the ER which is made to be sold outside of Japan. This can be denoted by the UKCA on the back of the watch. So what you have there is in fact a GW-5000U-1ER like you stated and not the 1JP. However again they come from the same factory, are made of the same material and are exactly the same minus that mark. The watch was originally made only to be sold in Japan so some people see the JP version as more valuable but they're both the same watch in every aspect. Also something that doesn't get mentioned a lot is that the case itself is also DLC coated steel and not just the screwback.
