my gshock saved my arm from badly bruised when I fell off my motorcycle, the damn watch bear the brunt of the friction between my wrist and the asphalt and the only thing remind me of the accidents is small scar on the raised edges. still ticking till this day, years later just fine.

I always love when companies choose to inject personality into watches. Things like the Ionic, GShock, and Garmin stand out on a wrist, rather than a generic curved tin.
@Rocksite1
@Rocksite1 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't at all be opposed to Casio coming up with a really rugged watch without G-Shock looks-itis. That being said, before G-Shock, personality in watches WAS fairly bland. Adding personality: yes. Dogmatically adding the same personality each time, not so much.

My dad gave me his old DW-5600 in 1990. I loved that watch and wore it all the time. The outer shell had long since crumbled away, but I continued to wear it. I never changed the battery in it and it lasted until 2011. The 20+ year battery life was great. I ended up retiring that watch when the battery died and got the Japan exclusive GW-5000 which has the nice screw back design of my beloved DW-5600, but also has solar charging and radio reception for automatic timekeeping. I don't plan on ever replacing this watch.

Been wearing it for a week now. I love mine. But, I've given up on trying to keep up with the latest and greatest smartwatch tech. I just want a watch first, smartwatch second. I do wish they'd gone with updated silicon and better battery life, tho I do like the timepiece only function. I also have an Omega Speedy for my mechanical fix, or whenever I need to dress things up a bit. If you're someone who cares about paying for stuff with your watch or storing music (I always have my phone on me anyways), then this may not be for you. But, if you appreciate timepieces over smart functions, then you may also love this one.

I keep being tempted by smartwatches and never pulling the trigger. While price, battery life, etc., have been issues for me the biggest is simultaneous paring to multiple phones. It's a niche demand likely mostly limited to those of us who deal with a second mobile for on-call at work but with so many BT headsets handling it I keep holding out hope.

G-Shocks can be huge, but many of their chunkiest designs wear surprisingly easy and light. If you opt for one of the conventional (non-"smart") models, you still get a functionally-loaded solar-powered, self-adjusting, perfectly accurate, completely autonomous timepiece that you'll pass down to your grand kids. My first G, a relatively primitive DW-6600, is going strong 26 years after I bought it.

Another awesome video, sir! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: smartwatches don’t interest me even a bit and I will probably never buy one but your smartwatch videos are so great that I watch them anyway! And enjoy them! No wonder if you sometimes stress a bit about video publishing times when you always make these masterpieces! Your videos are always one of the best among tech videos. But a word or two about the watch too: as a boy I owned some Casio watches in the 1980’s. They really wouldn’t break. Even in use of wild kid like I used to be. The only reason to get new one was the looks. I just wanted new one although the old one was still working. I bet they are still working somewhere. I’ve lost them all. I also had a watch that was also calculator. It had rubber buttons for every number and other function under display. I can’t remember if it was Casio or what.

Does it support the Moment Setter App or are the apps functions now managed on the watch itself? Because right now it looks like this functionality was not ported over.

What is that red, orange, and yellow watch face app you are using on the Gsw H-1000?

Good video again Just can't see the point in buying a WearOs watch at the moment. Plugged my Fossil Sport in last week after about 6 months of not using it & after it lost just under 50% in about half a day I realised why I was so frustrated with it so went back to my Amazfit GTS 2e. Don't get me wrong, you can't do half as much with the GTS 2e , but it dose just what I need + battery life is king. Will wait & see what the Google/Samsung collaboration brings before I part with my money on any Wear OS watch again. Also my Sony Smart watch 3 was more responsive & Google Voice Search worked a charm compared to the Fossil.

Hi, will the watch still keep track of distance even with no GPS reception or if the GPS signal is lost while training?

Yet another hollywood-quality review, Michael. I think I speak for most of your fan base, we'd really like a show n tell of how you produce those gorgeous videos.

I didn't catch the premier. But you know me, always excited when you talk about smart watches.

When Casio dumped the Protek smartwatch, I thought it wasn't gonna return to making smartwatches again, but this has my hopes up even if it is not a good product.

I wouldn't say it's a fail though it's just the beginning but for somebody like me that's been wearing G-Shocks since I was 10 this is perfect. I don't care for all the bells and whistles what I want is that glowing screen when I flip my wrist. That's what G-Shock is cool and comfortable and durable. You sold me with all those glowing screens of the time super futuristic I love it

There is a new version of this watch that does have tough solar. I would love to see a video on this newer version. Thanks from NC.

We The problem with "smart watches" for special operation personal is RF leakage. Credit to Garmin's Tactix series that features a STEALTH MODE and KILL SWITCH; however, then you run into battery issues. The reality is we use The 401/601 or a "smart phone" with proprietary applications.
