My dad gave me his old DW-5600 in 1990. I loved that watch and wore it all the time. The outer shell had long since crumbled away, but I continued to wear it. I never changed the battery in it and it lasted until 2011. The 20+ year battery life was great. I ended up retiring that watch when the battery died and got the Japan exclusive GW-5000 which has the nice screw back design of my beloved DW-5600, but also has solar charging and radio reception for automatic timekeeping. I don't plan on ever replacing this watch.

Been wearing it for a week now. I love mine. But, I've given up on trying to keep up with the latest and greatest smartwatch tech. I just want a watch first, smartwatch second. I do wish they'd gone with updated silicon and better battery life, tho I do like the timepiece only function. I also have an Omega Speedy for my mechanical fix, or whenever I need to dress things up a bit. If you're someone who cares about paying for stuff with your watch or storing music (I always have my phone on me anyways), then this may not be for you. But, if you appreciate timepieces over smart functions, then you may also love this one.

G-Shocks can be huge, but many of their chunkiest designs wear surprisingly easy and light. If you opt for one of the conventional (non-"smart") models, you still get a functionally-loaded solar-powered, self-adjusting, perfectly accurate, completely autonomous timepiece that you'll pass down to your grand kids. My first G, a relatively primitive DW-6600, is going strong 26 years after I bought it.

And enjoy them! No wonder if you sometimes stress a bit about video publishing times when you always make these masterpieces! Your videos are always one of the best among tech videos. But a word or two about the watch too: as a boy I owned some Casio watches in the 1980’s. They really wouldn’t break. Even in use of wild kid like I used to be. The only reason to get new one was the looks. I just wanted new one although the old one was still working. I bet they are still working somewhere. I’ve lost them all. I also had a watch that was also calculator. It had rubber buttons for every number and other function under display. I can’t remember if it was Casio or what.
