Kari, don’t feel bad it was your first time trying to back up the Casita it takes practice I’ll also tell you my experience has been backing up a shorter trailer is more difficult than a longer trailer I’m not sure how John seems to back the casita up like a champ but one suggestion is put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel and turn the wheel with small inputs in the direction you want the back of the trailer to go with a shorter trailer just use small steering wheel inputs keep practicing you’ll get it I never had a backup camera on my tow vehicles so I had to use the side mounted mirrors on the truck it’s just a suggestion maybe you and John could go to and empty parking lot like on a Sunday or Holiday and you could practice there keep up the good spirits and you’ll master backing up the Casita in no time

Hello and Happy New Year to you guys, just a suggestion if you cross your safety chains and if for some unknown reason the trailer hitch comes off the hitch ball while traveling with the safety chains crossed it may prevent the trailer hitch from falling on to the road kind of acting as a cradle and preventing damage to the trailer hitch this has only happened to me 40 years ago while towing a boat and I had the safety chains crossed and it did not damage the boat trailer hitch I just pulled off the road and re hitched the boat trailer to the hitch ball and was back on the road in 10 minutes and continued my trip I blame myself for being in a hurry while hitching up the boat trailer to the ball hitch anyway it’s just a suggestion for you guys maybe save you from a bunch of grief down the road keep putting out the wonderful videos

@ Kari you might want to check what the state of Oregon laws are about safety chains I know in Louisiana it’s the law to have the safety chains crossed
@lisakay068510 күн бұрын
As a safety precaution, in Pennsylvania it is state law that you have to cross your chains in case your hitch pops off, and it keeps your hitch from catching the ground. Keep your videos coming because I am so interested in purchasing a Casita so I can venture out on my own. I love your tips and advice!

i spent 13 years in my casita and the only time my carbon mono alarm went off was when the dog expelled gas or when battery was running down. enjoyed your video. safe travels.

Haha I can relate to the dog-induced carbon monoxide alarm! Thanks for watching!

You both did great backing in. Back in the old days, watching couples back into the campsites could get a little exciting. As Murray has said the shorter the trailer the quicker they pivot. Supposedly I will have Casita delivering my Spirit in the next couple of weeks. Looking forward to exploring the PNW too. Thanks for all the tips.

Good on you for giving it a go. Yes, you WILL get there. It is weird at first, but holding the steering wheel at the bottom is less confusing. You want the casita to go left then you turn left. It has been helpful for me to get used to holding the steering wheel this way (at the advice of others). Happy camping 🏕️ 😊

Hey just catching up on some of your videos and I saw something caught my attention. Our Casita is a 2022 SD . We just tinted our windows this past fall with some privacy tint. However in the process I found that the screen in our Emergency window, moves from one side to other, it also comes out quite easy. I hope this info helps, anyway thanks for the videos.

Hi! Thank you so much for this information! I had no idea. How do you like the privacy tint?
@pdroth502 күн бұрын
@ItsaKarifulLife we like tinted windows for privacy during the day, and cooling the heat from the sun. It also keeps it darker inside when my wife might have a migraine, which could happen at any time. Those are the main reasons we tinted our Casita.

keep that max fan and the bath fan cracked open (hopefully you have the max fan cover) to knok out that condensation.

One more comment and I will stop bothering y’all Just to let y’all know I got into an accident with my small car on December 8th and it was a total loss so now I’m saving for a down payment for a full size truck hope to buy one this spring so I’ll have a truck to pull the Casita when I can afford one no one was injured during the accident

So sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to hear everyone is okay. I hope you have good luck with your truck search!
