Who is going to finance the Assad soldiers going into Iraq? Will Iran finance them? For Iran even Iraq is proving too heavy unless the U.S. really leaves. None the less this Sunni/Shia divide in itself is not as bad as the Western media makes it out to be unless it is used by outsiders like the U.S. and the U.K. Left to themselves, I don't think there would be a divide. If Trump does really pull out, then Turkey will call the shots. Erdogan has dreams of the Ottoman empire, but the Arabs are now rich, and I doubt they want the Sultan back. The danger is between Turkey and Iran. Azerbaijan persecution of Arminian with the help of Turks and Israeli weapons are becoming bigger and bigger thorn in the Islamic Republic's side. During the Ottoman's Russia and Persia were too much for the Ottomans but now with Georgia, things are shaky for Iran and Russia. However, on the face of the Turks are against Israel but Erdogan himself would welcome Israel's help where-ever his personal ambitions are involved but how far is the population is prepared to follow him on that path and are they even aware of their current depth of co-operation? The Kurds might be finished in Syria, but they still have the oil rich northern Iraq with Iran over the border and the Kurds they are more Persians than Turk. Therefore if U.S. really leaves including from Iraq then Iran's influence will get stronger and if they can accommodate Turrey then Israel will have to back down. This is why I don't think that the U.S. will leave. They will create a new ISIL again and Trump will be convinced not to with Netanyahu singing in his ear. So, Iran has to accommodate Turkey somehow anyway or Erdogan will get involved against Iran and then the Islamic Republic will be in real trouble.

I love how the whole video is presenting itself as this unbiased neutral report, sponsored by ground news and stuff But when it comes to the SNA SDF conflict it’s just completely uncritically reproducing Turkish antikurdish propaganda… like lets not talk about SNA militants wearing ISIS Patches on their uniforms, killing injured people in hospitals, kidnapping women and the Turkish state celebrating this in national tv… „SDF is neither Syrian nor democratic“… of course the majority of people self governing themselves in the Syrian north east have been syrians for decades and sure „they are not holding elections, so they can’t be democratic“, let’s just ignore the fact that they are implementing a complex system of direct democracy of councils and delegates that you could argue is way more democratic than every western parliamentarian democracy… Just absurd how biased everything regarding Kurdish autonomy is addressed in these videos 😅

Also, totally not weird at all that The Times of Israel had an article that literally, using the actual german word, called for Israel to take more Lebensraum. Also, totally a coincidence that Bibi regularly uses maps of "Greater Israel" which shows literally all of their neighbors not existing/having much of their territory conqueered - and he brings them to international meetings and shows them off publicly. Also, since we touched on people stealing actions and rhetoric directly from 1940's Germany, I suggest you look up what Bibi says about the little moustache man and his historical atrocity - I literally can't quote him without automod eating my comment... Like I said, they're not doing war. It's beyond that.

“The SDF is not democratic because they have never held elections” shows how little you know about them. The SDF operates under the ideology of Democratic Confederalism, which supports a more direct form of democracy. This system includes local elections for each region, local courts where people from different minorities gather, and democratic decision-making through voting-pure democracy! You also claim that SDF territory is not Kurdish simply because Arabs now live there, without even mentioning the Arab Belt Project. This project, initiated in the 1970s, forcibly relocated hundreds of thousands of Kurds, replacing them with Arabs in these areas. Finally, you allege that the SDF lacks local support and has been targeting civilians. These claims are entirely false and have been debunked. On Instagram, we’ve shown how Turkey, the SNA, and HTS have been releasing fake videos claiming to be from the PKK and YPG, spreading this misinformation online. Your so-called “unbiased research” in your videos is nothing but lies and propaganda against the Kurds. Every recent video of yours I’ve seen reflects this bias. Shame on you!

Pretty ironic the Turkish foreign minister complaining about international terrorists in the SDF. How many foreign Salafi terrorists did they let through their borders into Syria? I hope the SDF are able to negotiate peacefully with the new Syrian government, despite their understandable mistrust of Turkey. I’m not so sure the Americans will leave the SDF however. We all remember what happened when Trump tried to leave the first time? That spot is too advantageous for them to give up. I think they want to stay to cut off Syria from Iraq to prevent Iranian weapons from being smuggled to Hezbollah and Palestinian resistance.

The SDF is the military and a coalition of various groups like the mainly Kurdish YPG and all woman YPJ, the Assyrian MFS, and the Arab al-Sanadid Forces, among others. They have a high degree of autonomy and in at least some of the YPG/YPJ groups the rank and file soldiers elect their commanders with direct democracy. But the armed forces are not generally elected anywhere. The SDF is the military wing and subordinate to the Syrian Democratic Council, which very much has had elections, with higher offices, in theory, existing only to enact and coordinate decisions made by local assemblies. So to paint the SDF as anti-democratic is pretty disingenuous, especially in comparison to the other alternatives in the area.

Villages vote for representatives in the local councils, these council have a say in the development of the AANES as a whole. To clarify: the SDF are not an offshoot of the PKK. They are a distinctly different group. The SDF do not want PKK in the NES region and have been walking a tightrope between this aim and also the natural support from some for the PKK. Its incorrect to say that the Syrian Arab population in NES are against the SDF, on the contrary the SDF comprises a large % of Arabs wiithin its ranks. Prior to the amazing events of the last few weeks the safest place to live in Syria was NES. Also to add that the cost of living within the NES region was significantly cheaper than both NWS and especially the GOS areas. The success of the NES region is something that could not be countenanced by the Turks so they have destroyed civilian infrastructure over and over and over again, in an attempt to make daily life so unbearable that the general Syrian population would turn against the SDF. This has never actually happened. I've no doubt that cities such as Deir ez Zor are more natural HTS supporters Raqqa, while definitely Arab, is not as clearly going that way. From what I've been told from Raqqa over the last couple of days their is still support for SDF, or at least the 'idea' of the SDF. To add: the Self Administration actually had planned to carry out a democratic election earlier this year but the USA instructed them not to do it, so it was shelved. I was asked to work on a project for the AANES, which never materialised, but I was given one specific mandate: 50% men - 50% women involvement. Unheard of in the middle east. I've spent over a decade in Iraq, Kurdistan and Syria and while what I've written above is correct there is a small window of opportunity for a peaceful transition. I hope that cool heads take over and all sides agree on concessions that work towards a peaceful Syrian future. Final point to note: the world bank figure is MILES out. $11+billion for reconstruction of the whole of Syria is a fraction of whats required. $100billion+ will be required. As I've suggested elsewhere a Marshall Plan for Syria is required, at those huge levels, in order to support the reconstruction. Peace for Syria.

They lived freely under Turkish rule for a thousand years. They weren't slaves or forced to change religion. You believe 1000 years of that would keep their identity? Armenians revolted with the back of Russia and sided with them during war; thus Ottomans deported them. Armenian Prime Minister acknowladges this but it's easier to throw "genocide" on unrelated topics. Also you should know that, Kurds done most of the fighting against Armenians.

Granted, SDF=PKK is oversimplification but not THAT inaccurate. Hear me out. PKK is founded 1978, just a year later, Ocalan moved the core of PKK's operations into Syria in 1979, stayed in Syria until his exile in 1998. So PKK had a strong presence there from the start. After Ocalan (leader of PKK) arrested in 1999, PKK restructured... KCK Kurdistan manifesto defined their state as 4 administrative divisions PKK, PYD, PÇDK, and PJAK for Turkish, Syrian, Iraqi and Iranian territories respectively. As per Kongra-Gel (their legistative branch) declaration, PKK's Syria arm was renamed to PYD as a seperate administrative division in 2005. Of these, PÇDK unofficially existed in 1990s, but after weakening of Saddam post Desert Storm allowed Turkey to directly intervene Kurdish civil war; Turkey and KDP Peshmergah fought againist PUK Peshmergah and PÇDK. We all now know how it all ended up; Turkey HELPED formation of Kurdish autonomous region in Iraq, but PÇDK is crushed and exists as a political party with exactly 0 seats there.. PJAK never gained popularity as PKK had minor influence in Iran to begin with. Iran quickly crushed them in early 2000s. Before SDF, PYD was the "government" of the Syrian part of KCK Kurdistan and YPG was their "army". How can you convince an ordinary Arab to join a Kurdish seperatist movement? You can't. So the SDF was the solution. "SDF is a joint alliance againist ISIS. YPG is part of it. Maslows pyramid is looking at you" should have been its slogan. Obviously an Arabs can't join YPG in good concience, but forming a rag-tag armed group to fight alongside? Given "more urgent" problems like starvation and the threat of mad terrorists coming to behead them for reasons, this is a much easier pill to swallow. However PYD (government) is *NOT* part of SDF, YPG (military arm) is. SDF is not a governing body... Small groups are given some autonomy for the villages they control (in line with communal and confederal Kurdish state" as KCK says), but these groups can't really exist without support of PYD/YPG, nor they have the freedom to peacefully seperate themselves from SDF. They have no flow of food, medicine or military supplies and obviously no infrastructure to produce them.. They are not "forced" per se, but they are fully dependent on YPG and YPG itself still answers only to PYD and no one else. So really, is it THAT innaccurate to label SDF as PKK? As for good or bad, in a world of finite resources no one is pure Good or Bad anywhere. Given the fact these guys have been at each other's throats for 10+ years, I think all sides deal with the civilians in their regions quite well. There are isolated incidents everywhere, but be realistic; When a faction starts to "brutalise" people, they loose territories quite quickly because lack of popular support... See the fall of SAA controlled regions.

Kurds in Syria are syrians ,because syrian is a nationality and not an ethnicity. There is no reason to divide syria and give areas which are majority ARABS to the kurds. Syria is for all syrians under one government and one country. People so easily saying "they deserve their own state🥺" while they live in usa is so stupid

Syria is a fabricated state, the name is ancient and gone arabs are not actual syrians if you mean that but Kurds lived there for thousands of years! and guess what? Kurds want peace and democracy in there not seperation but arabs prefer cooperate with Turkish genociders that funded ISIS than Kurds that saved them from ISIS!!

You're a Syrian Kurd, I assume? 🙄 The Syrian borders were determined by European powers based on European priorities, not by locals based on local priorities, and should be reshaped democratically to ensure that all ethnicities can have their own homeland. Where should Kurds live if not in the area they have always lived?

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has regular elections. Turkey has been entirely antagonistic to the SDF, bombing their military, police and villages alike. Turkey does not ackowledge the kurdish minority in their region and a turkish backed militia defeating the SDF would not result in a new government that treats the kurds equally (to say the least).

This video is mostly professional, but the coverage of the SDF and the state it defends (the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria) is inaccurate at best. While the SDF are guilty of abusing their power like other factions in the war, their system of local democracy and social policies set them apart from the rest, and Shrivan’s portrayal of them as just a bunch of warlords with simply different ideological rhetoric is dishonest. While I don’t see them remaining for long, their often-committed advocacy for local governance, democracy, gender equality, and social policies can play a role at the negotiating table when it comes to constructing a new Syria and ensuring longer-term stability. This will only work if they are not crushed before negotiations end. Popular support from a properly informed American public can influence the incoming administration’s attitude towards the SDF and its state. Misinforming them in the way Shirvan did can reduce public pressure on the US government, the SDF’s biggest patron, to defend them until the negotiations end, preventing them from advocating for the aforementioned safeguards in the future of Syria.

You haven't taken into consideration decades of Arabization in Syria and Iraq. Afrin is a Kurdish city. So is Derezor! What's needed is dearabization. Your sources of geographic and demographic data are biased towards the Turks and the Arabs. There are no Kurds from Iran, Iraq, or Turkey in Syria. SDF is the most democratic force Syria has ever experienced. Speaking of elections. Who holds elections during a war for survival of a nation? Turkey itself threatened to wipe out SDF if they were to hold a planned election. Please do not be a puppet and do your homework first!!!
