It's the opposite actually. I have almost perfect skin-never had pimples type of skin. Which is why I never had a routine. Didn't even moisturize enough which started to become a slight problem around 30. Moreover, now that I do have a routine, I can never tell what products work and what don't. Because my skin never reacts adversely and I don't wanna use them for months till they do fuck my skin up. So I stopped trying products and the only 'fancy' thing I use are natural facemasks. What Cassandra said about sleeping with that salicylic acid thing on, so relatable... I'm 36 and my mother did not allow me to wear any makeup, so just imagine my suffering... Well, I had this prescription antibiotic that was like a thick white paste, and I would use that like it was foundation hoping it would cover the worst of it... An antibiotic, yikes... Just a little thing: There is actually a long-term study (LINA by the German research centre Helmholtz-Zentrum) that involved pregnant women who used various paraben-containing products during pregnancy. The butylparaben seemed to have led to epigenetic changes in their infants, which then led to a lower sense of satiety and excess weight (compared to babies whose mothers didn't use products containing parabens during pregnancy). This correlation was also found in studies with mice and their offspring. So parabens in cosmetic products are probably fine for grown ups in general, but pregnant women should probably steer clear.

That La Roche-Posay sunscreen is known as the "Shaka Fluide". It's not mineral, and not readily available in the US market because of the advanced filters used. People in the US still manage to obtain this sunscreen though with a bit of effort.

I love this sunscreen. But I don’t get why people say that it isn’t greasy. That’s not the case for me. Maybe the initial first layer but when reapplied during the day it sure is greasy haha.

@@chandracox6814 One easy method at obtaining the shaka fluide is through reliable sellers on Ebay. It's a pretty easy, and affordable product to buy just over the borders in Canada/Mexico at drug stores. Lots of people stock up and bring them back to the US to resell. Just be thorough, and do your research. Be careful who you buy from.

Back in my day (circa stone age days) we had mandatory home EC classes that taught us general skin care routines, house cleaning skills, sewing and cooking basics. Guys and gals took it and we had a lot of fun. We learned how to do laundry and a write checks, all the basic things you needed to go to survive.

Everytime I hear someone talk about how they used to sleep in their makeup, I just can't seem to understand how that can happen. I remember being 12 years old in the 90s, not knowing a single thing about skin care, and coming back from a wedding that I had participated in at 2:00am and even then I made sure to wash my face from the makeup they had applied on me. At no point did I ever think that sleeping with it on was a good idea. And no one had to tell me, it was just common sense to me. I mean, if not for your face than at least for the sake of your pillow cases.

though it may seem commonsense to wipe gunk off your face, this just shows how false/exaggerated ads (ie blemish clearing foundation) and “influencers” (ie that lady at CVS) can cause more harm than good. I mean, who among us havent lost a few drops of commonsense from some form of marketing scheme (be it magic mops to massage chairs that fly, anything & everything else you see on home tv shopping networks and amazon). I’m as guilty as much as everyone else 😅

The video seems fine and I don’t know why it would have been deleted. But more importantly, I was struck by why you would go through all this trouble to dig up a deleted video, but you wouldn’t put the time into researching a company like The Body Shop. To my knowledge it has NEVER been an MLM (not that being an MLM company is bad anyway. Some MLM,s are scams, but not all). The Body Shop was founded by Anita Roddick in the UK in 1976. She started the company to help support herself and her children while her husband was abroad. She helped pioneer the concepts of sustainability in cosmetics through refillable packaging, use of natural ingredients, responsible sourcing of ingredients, fair trade and NO ANIMAL TESTING! The company got bought by L’Oreal in 2007 and then by Natura & Co in 2016 and still maintain the same values that Anita Roddick implemented in the beginning ( minus the refillable packaging). No, their ingredients might not be considered “clean” ( I don’t really know as I’ve never analyzed them), but I don’t think they’re the worst either. To say that The Body Shop was at any time an MLM company is inaccurate and disrespectful to the woman who not only founded the company, but was also an activist who was responsible for starting a movement for social and ethical change in the cosmetic industry.
