it’s about time I tried a Cassia treatment on my hair! Cassia Obovata (also known as neutral henna) is an Ayurvedic herb that can be used as a natural haircare treatment mask to achieve healthy, strong, beautiful hair. In this video I talk about what Cassia is, how to use it and share my first time experience trying it. There is also before and after photos at the end. I hope you enjoy this video! Thank you for watching! xoxo

You want to look for 100% pure, organic Cassia Obovata. I have also read that Cassia Auriculata is essentially the same thing, so you can use either. You may be able to find it at herbal stores or places that sell henna. I ordered mine from Amazon amzn.to/2SNDryU . However I want to try other brands. I’ve heard good things about the Cassia from Henna Sooq www.hennasooq.com , however they were sold out at the time I was ordering. If you guys have a favourite brand, let me know!

My mum has been doing cassia( or called in my language ghasil) for years. It’s really is a big use in east Africa. She’s also started included it since I was 5, really good treatment. Every Saturday I either use cassia or henna. And I don’t just use henna+water or cassia+water. I would usually add egg, coconut milk, warmed castor oil with sesame and almond oil, and honey. It really does change your hair growth and condition massively.

What I love most about this video is that you didn't exaggerate the results. This is why I love your channel and have done since way before I started my own KZbin journey. Many influencers who promote natural lifestyles want so badly for their treatments and cures to work that they completely exaggerate the results and make it hard for viewers to decipher between what actually does work, and what the creator just really 'wanted' to work. I'm not sure if I made myself clear there. Sometimes I see people promote natural remedies such as....I don't know....rubbing a banana on your throat every day for 30 days. At the end, they'll say that they lost weight, it got rid of their bunions and made their IQ go up by half a point. Thanks for just being honest. x

Damn though, if she didn't like the colour it turned, or grew to dislike it in the future, she'd be screwed! It's the most permanent thing you can ever do. And imagine growing it out with hair that long... I'm growing out hair dye now, and it's only just above shoulder length. It's been 14 months and I'm still only maybe 50% done!

@elisehadfield-jones5682
@elisehadfield-jones5682 5 жыл бұрын
@@user-ff7fs4sj7r You can, but it depends on if you used Body Art Quality (BAQ) henna. BAQ henna is 100% pure. Lots of store bought hennas however contain metallic salts that can react with commercial dyes, producing scary results (like green hair!). ALWAYS strand test! Also, since henna is so permanent, dyeing could be an issue in general. Lots of permanent dyes lighten your hair beforehand, but bleach doesn't lift henna out of the hair, leaving you with an orange-y base. Again, strand test with the dye you want to use. It's so important that you do this! Take a small section of your hair, or use some hair harvested from your hairbrush. Hope this helps! (Semi-permanent dyes however will work fine. I did this after dyeing my hair with henna. It means you can only go darker however, and your colour range will be limited to the orange-y spectrum.)

Few tricks: -you can add conditioner to the treatment. It will help with the smell and it will make it easier to spread through your hair; -you can substitute simple water with chamomile, it supposedly helps with enhancing the blonde highlights and it has its benefits for the hair; -you should keep it damp and warm while you let it sit, I usually use plastic wrap and a towel. -it does good to the skin if you massage it through your scalp. It really did make my hair thicker but it’s also SO messy and that’s why I haven’t done it in a long time 😂

My sister and I do henna once a month. We apply it outside, and we do each others hair, so much easier. You can also experiment with add-ins to tailor it to your personal needs. For mine, I mix henna and amla, and I add an egg, aloe Vera juice, Apple cider vinegar, molasses, and coffee. I make it the night before to let it cure, before applying in the morning. Beautiful results, every time.

Hello from Nepal! Henna is a staple hair beautifying product here. We let it sit overnight before we apply the mixture of henna, tea water (boiled and strained) and water. Some even add eggs and curd to the mixture if their hair is dry. I’m quite surprised by all the ‘its messy’ comments. Here we just apply it like a hair color, but you actually need someone to do that for you. Don’t shampoo on the first few days and apply mustard oil to intensify the color payoff towards the third day. Wash with a shampoo as usual. Henna is conditioning on its own so using a conditioner is one’s personal choice. I personally don’t love the smell of henna that lingers for days, do you love the smell of henna?

Basics of using henna- Always mix it with oil and not just water. Ratio of oil:water should be 1:4 Also you start applying henna from the roots of your hair to the tips Never pull your hair after or while applying henna Sectioning your hair into smaller sections helps even application. Try starting from the center of your scalp and then pulling the outer strands. Never ever apply henna on wet/damp hair. It will weaken the roots Also it's helpful to oil your hair before applying henna if you are using it just as a conditioner. Last but not the least, let your henna soak in your hair for upto 4 hours. Use a shower cap(full time) and warmer(for half n hour)so that the henna doesnt dry out. I'm from India and we apply henna pretty much. It's quiet inexpensive here.

Ok some tips that work for me🙆: - mix some potato/rice starch into boiling water until you find it has a creamy and gelish texture, mix that with henna and you'll see you'll use less powder because that gel is going to mix perfectly and powder gonna last more; - you'll find yourself better spreading henna into wet hair cause it's gonna slip more and reach the roots properly (I had some not dyed spots the first times I was doing that); - I prefer using henna/cassia on wet and NOT washed hair because henna works as a detergent so you may find your hair too stripped and dry because you actually "shampoo twice". Someone says sebum could work as a barrier between henna and your hair. I didn't have any kind of problem when dying my hair AND I'll clarify that henna coats the hair cuticle and does not penetrate into it.

@@dyahviona well I used Italian brands but there are many like Jamila, Hesh or others that are international and less expensive (a few euros per 100grams). Moreover, if you research you'll find that every country has its own henna which could be cool or warm undertoned. Well, you can try, for sure you could have some highlights, at least you would have thicken the hair. Just research before how you want your henna to be!

You were recommended 500g for long hair because usually you're supposed to coat your hard really well. it's not as important with cassia since there isn't much change, but if you ever want to actually use henna to actually color the the hair - you really should put that 500g+ on every single hair stand, otherwise it will look bad. For better "blond" results you may use chamomile tee instead of water, for better hydrating results you may add oil - beware that oil might block the pigments and the color results won't be as vibrant. You should still try the treatment on wet hair, for some people it makes a big difference. Also, the messy part goes away with practice, since the paste might stick to your hair better if you use oil - girl, just add some coconut oil to the mixture, no need for conditioner.

I have classic length hair and 100g was enough for me (my hair isn't thin at all). My hair is dark blond so cassia made me more golden. A little. And I made my cassia with aronia juice and flax seed gel. :) Flax seed made it easier to put on hair. After you mix cassia you should leave it for 12 to 24 hours (covered with foil for warmth). When you put cassia on hair, again you cover hair with foil because cassia loves warm. :)After you wash it, you cannot condition hair for 1 or two days! Cause cassia needs long time for a color to show up. The longer the better. Than you may wash your hair. You can mix cassia with something different like acerola powder, kurkuma, neem powder. There is so much you can do with it. I hope I didn't forget anything.

Love your video :) I have been using cassia and other Ayurvedic herbs for a long time now and you should know that it is best to use on wet hair because it's easier when you apply it. The mix would penetrate better in your hair, AND it's better for the washing part! You didn't mention it on video, but you should cover your hair so the cassia wouldn't dry on your hair, that explains why it was very difficult for you to wash it properly. Plus, don't add too much water, it should have the consistency of a cake mix, not to much liquidly but not to much thick either. Also, it is better if you add aloe vera gel or flax seed gel or even natural yogurt to your mix because the powders have the tendency to dry hair. Hope it helps you! Sorry for my bad english, I'm french :)

I am doing henna-like treatments for several years now. I see, that you didn't put yours on all hair. I am working from the scalp to the length. Everything in the shower. With gloves. After application, I put on my hair kitchen stretch foil and a fleece winter hat on top of that. I am keeping it still warm on for 1-2-maybe-4 hours. Rinse it in the shower with clear warm water. Some people add to the mix conditioner, oil, lemon.. It is quite popular in Poland. We also have whole religion around it - "włosing" (something like hair-ing) - for natural hair care.

Cassia or henna is a conditioner in itself and does colour the hair. You can add eggs and or oil to it for additional shine, specially in case of dry hair. Start applying from the top hair and keep forming a top bun while adding more hair from bottom. Put a rag around your shoulders. Vaseline on hair line and gloves on hand. Adding beet juice gives hair a purple tinge, amla powder and tea liquor makes it reddish, ground coffee brown and indigo powder black. Some people recommend using an iron container, but I think its drying. The effects do show after a couple of days as you noticed. Thought this might help.

For someone with hair shorter than yours. (Where Gloves)Divide hair into 4 section. Apply Cassia with a TINT Brush with one half inch partings using the pointy end of TINT brush, or pointed rat tail comb.Starting at root. And also apply around perimeter of hairline around head first. Next, start applying 1st front section. Root to ends. 1 half inch partings. Next, apply to 2nd section on top with the half inch partings. Now you will be done with half your head. Clip up the finished front part of hair. Now start on 3rd section of hair in back. Apply from root to ends. Last apply to 4th section on back, always apply all section from root to ends with tint brush. Now using gloved hands and wide tooth comb, gently comb through hair. Put hair up in a shower cap to retain body heat and process better. Important hints: Powder may mix better with hot water. A drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil will help concoction to adhere better to Hair. It is actually easier to apply to damp hair. Some suggest using 1 or 2 T of lemon or Apple Cider Vinegar for some recipes. And also strong black tea or coffee (instead of water) to tone down brassiness & some other circumstances. Was wondering myself if herbs like Chamomile might enhance blonde shades if added to it?

It's so funny that you're doing this video right when I just did my first cassia treatment myself. Despite using honey and conditionner in my mixture, it was VERY drying, and I didn't know about the hard water tip, so... the results are allright on the top of my head, I even got a bit more fluff (I have very fine, kinda "flat" looking hair so that's a plus) but my blonde damaged ends (which I managed to condition and make somewhat presentable until now) now literally look and feel like dead hay with a muddy color... people tell me it's barely noticeable, so I guess I can live with it, buuut I do hope it washes off though. Anyways I will cut these ends sooner or later, just waiting for a bit more regrowth so that I don't go pixie, but it was a disappointing experience nonetheless. I expected shiny, smooth, conditioned hair with golden highlights and got the opposite instead, dead, dry, brittle and dull colored hair. I don't understand why they don't simply mention this tap water thing on the box or in the instructions... But now that I know, I will try again when my hair is fixed up! For now, I have waited 3 days then put coconut oil in my strands, and will wash it tomorrow. Hopefully they will be moisturized again... Little update : I was able to fix the damage. Here's how, if anyone's interested : I didn't wash my hair for 4 days and intentionally let it get a little bit greasy at the roots, then brushed it down my hair as much as possible. I used coconut oil to coat the remaining lengths and braided it for the day. Then, I did a moisturizing DIY mask with an egg, yogurt, sunflower oil, plus some honey and cinnamon to counter the muddy color. I soaked my hair in it and let it sit for half an hour. Then I rinced it with medium-cold water (to avoid the egg "cooking" and clinging to my hair), washed my hair with calia shampoo, then I used a lot of calia conditionner and let it sit for over 10 minutes. and finally another cold rince with 1/3 apple cider vinegar. Aaaand... the silkiness is back ! My ends got back to their normal aspect and texture! The color is also almost back to normal too. Gosh I'm relieved !

I used cassia for months, the more you use it the more effect you notice. Mix it with infused camomile instead of water for some blond reflects. For me Cassia gave a lot of volume. If you apply the treatment on wet hair it spreads easier and you need less product to cover your hair. But I have to say nothing like henna (lawsonia inermis) if you ever want to try a new colour, lawsonia makes wonders on your hair, strengthen and shines and makes it so straight it looks like you iron it...but you need to use it for months aswell to notice the effects properly.I love your hair videos 💖

I use Henna once every 2 weeks. Once you have mixed it and let it overnight it doesn't stay green in colour. It automatically has a brownish color. Your hair colour won't change drastically but yes when you go out in the sun you will see the red colour. You can add in beetroot juice, curd , lemon,egg etc. And it's better to avoid a conditioner. What we generally do is just wash it water... And then the next day apply light oil to hair and then wash it with shampoo and conditon it. Give a salon like hair. ... 🙂
