WHERE I BUY MY HERBS:
If you have an Indian market near buy, I'm sure you could find some of the herbs there. If not, here are the online sources I bought my whole herbs from:
Whole Soap Nuts (Reetha): bit.ly/2LNpKhs
Shikakai Pods: bit.ly/2ZFyNsT
Fenugreek Seeds: bit.ly/3e7MqFj
Amla Berries: bit.ly/2LMdvlp
Shikakai Pods: bit.ly/2zaXWB4
I prefer using the whole herbs, but since they can be difficult to find, here is some place you can find the powdered herbs:
Shikakai Powder: bit.ly/2ZyG3Xo
Reetha Powder: amzn.to/2ZGYjhD
Amla Powder: bit.ly/36sWhTz
Fenugreek Powder: bit.ly/2WYrjzo
(I prefer to grind my fenugreek fresh)
Other herbs and items:
Marshmallow root: bit.ly/3eb8SgO
Neem Leaf: bit.ly/3dffNWl
Squeeze bottle: amzn.to/3c6JlUl

@@hadiyafatma7076 According to Ayurveda, it's important to know your hair type. (VATA, PITTA or KAPHA) I'm Pitta-Kapha. So my hair are medium density and a little curly.( I have straight hair from roots and they curl at the ends) I have breast length hair. So the quantity and quality of the Reetha, Shikekai, Amla you use is also very important. I use powder form and I don't boil them in water but I do put them in hot water for soaking. I'm from India ,,, but in India we first blend all the jadibuti (herbs) together and store it into a jar ,,,so whenever we need it we take two tbs of that mixture with one cup water then we boil it until it reduced to half then we keep it over night and then in the morning we do the straining Proses and then we use it directly,,,so as I said we put it overnight ,so the reason behind is the herbs get extracted really well ,,,so ,,your shampoo is too runny in consistency ,,,bcs u didn't reduced it ,,,we'll keep growing love from India...

Let me start off by saying how healthy and gorgeous your hair looks. It's beautiful. And you take such wonderful care of it. Thank you for explaining all of it so wonderfully. In my family, we have been using these powders for as long as I can remember. It has been passed down for generations in our house. Another thing we use along with all those you have mentioned, especially for children, since shikakhai can be quite unforgiving on the eye, is skip it altogether and use the leaves or powder of a tree called albizia amara. It's like the soap nut and very gooey but doesn't sting at all. We also add fresh or powdered curry leaves and hibiscus. It might sound like it's a lot, but we get fresh ingredients, dry them during summer and powder them to last a few months.

Thank you for this lovely video and your wonderful presentation! How delighted I am as an Indian to see you use these ancient Ayurvedic herbs to wash your hair. Though I was raised around these, I found myself instead using a whole lot of bottled products with fancy labels. Now after suffering hair damage from anti frizz chemically filled products and counter shampoos with impressive labels that did no good, I’ve turned back to all of these herbs and also add neem and hibiscus flowers to this diy shampoo. I use the powders not seeds. Hope this restores my hair to the long thick hair I had. I’m sure it takes patience and time. Your cascade of hair is truly beautiful. I hope this shampoo made a big difference to you. 🙏🏾❤️🌹

One commenter suggested first massaging scalp with oil(s) before using this shampoo. That reminds me of something I've been thinking about which is: in skincare it's often recommended to double-cleanse, which means oil or oil-based cleanser first (to remove grime, well especially sunscreen and makeup) - THEN a water-based cleanser which truly removes the oil along with the grime. (Plus if I'm understanding this right, plant-based oils are emollients which is a barrier that both seals in any moisture already there and prevents good products from absorbing in, so I imagine leaving on oils that aren't washed off is best as a last step after all products and moisturizers). So it makes sense to me to first oil-massage scalp (also for the massage therapy/reflexology benefits plus different oils help balance different Ayurvedic doshas such as sesame oil calms/grounds Vata...could stand on towel or sit to not slip or even get full-body oil massage before shower) then use a gentle, water-based shampoo (such as perhaps this video's recipe which looks so fun). Especially if someone uses hair products, sweats, or gets dirty. And double-cleanse helps remove bacteria, odor, and old skin cells. As for nourishing, strengthening, softening, smoothing, shine, volumizing, defining, and hydrating ingredients, I'd think the most important place for those and spending much money (for hair or skin) is as a leave-on step after the double-cleanse since it'll have such longer contact with body than a quickly washed-off cleanser. Such as in a leave-in conditioner or deep conditioner or protein mask or well-formulated gels/creams/milks/mousses/sprays/whatnots for hair (or serums and moisturizer for skin). Then maybe seal and smooth it all up last with a little oil (probably better than silicone)? Disclaimer: I'm no scientist or hair expert, just trying to logically put together guesses and pieces of things I've learned from a zillion videos (and used to work in massage). Please everyone always do your own research and consult experts! I'm very open to feedback and continual learning! Also: great video! I'm curious how the gorgeous footage at the end was filmed! Edit: After writing all this I watched the video again. Whoops, it says leave this shampoo on 2-5 minutes (so guess it is on long enough for ingredients to have an effect). And it does mention oil as a first step but says it doesn't remove oil so there is another shampoo suggested for that. Cool!

The problem more people have is thinking that their hairfall and hair quality is FROM genetics...when propably around 80% have just some bad hair practices (shampoo and conditioner type, towelling, styling products etc) , stress or has a deficiency. If you correct it, you'll see immense changes in your hair. But people think '"it's genetics, I won't have hair that looks beautiful cause I'm unlucky". While genetics plays a big role , the environment you put your hair is also is just as important. You can't have majority of the female population having hair shedding and thinning, if genetic disorders aren't that common (e.g 3% of population). Know your body's current state by figuring out what it lacks or is high in.. (get a blood test- hormones ? Deficiency? ) is a good way to start. If the results of the test is good, Your doctor THEN looks at female pattern baldness or other kinds of genetic considerations.

To all those who doubt if it works I would say this method is a tried and tested one for ages in India. If you are the one who loves everything clean and organic. Give this a try! Soapnuts need to be slightly less in quantity than Shikakai as it can be a bit drying. It may take a little getting used to initially as it doesn't lather much like store bought shampoos. You need to wash twice if you oil your hair before wash. But the result will be clean and lustrous looking hair for sure.

Coconut oil is the best oil to use on dry hair or as a conditioner. It does not leave a oil residue. Unless you put to much on. Usually just rub into your hands then run through hair. And it just washed out easy next wash.

@@kirannathani9123 Yes I am actually only using these indian powders to rinse my hair: Shikaki, amla, reetha. They naturally keep the narural oils in your hair, especially if you have dry hair, while cleaning your scalp. Totally recommend!

@@kirannathani9123 If you find them drying, add a little bit of any essential oil you like to the shampoo. It will leave your scalp clean and your hair soft. You can accompany this with doing a hair treatment once a week. It can be massaging your scalp with one or mix of an essential oil and hair overnight( cover it with something). And herbal treatments like henna..etc. You will a huge change in the health of your hair!

I’m a South Indian.very happy to see our very traditional cleaning natural ingredients being used by you..I still use them for cleaning my hair..Normally all the ingredients are sun dried and powdered..whenever I wash,I make a paste of it with water and wash it..no need for conditioning. The ingredients for making the powder are shikakai,Dried amla,Fenugreek, green gram .reetha, few dried hibiscus flowers, dried henna leaves, dried rose petals, some dried neem leaves and dried lemon ,orange peels.(a few more thing)..we make it once a year(has to be taken to a grinding mill) and store it.

This seriously saved my hair I've been doing it for 2 weeks and god! My damaged hairs are rising, less broken and get fresher after each shampoo (once a week and one hour mask) For powders, as a tip I would recommend using yogurt instead of water, because it's really drying for my scalp if I don't add some greasy balance (eggs and aloe Vera as well)
