The fact that the new cop doesn't listen to the veteran cops shows (at least in my mind) he's a corrupt cop who is just on a power trip. Legally though, if you're not under arrest, you can legally leave the stop. I'm so pissed over the fact that the senior cops can't get through to the rookie is ridiculous. And the fact that they won't let you talk to the chief is beyond stupid.

I have an ebike. It tops out in paperwork at 20. I haven’t seen it when I ride except for when I go down hill. I don’t usually ride sidewalks because I feel safer in the bike lane. Anyways, people with skateboards or those e-scooter thingies probably go faster than her toy car and those are allowed on sidewalks. That guy was just on a power trip or something.

I watched this episode with my mom. She was like, just push it down the road and get out of the guys way and then hop in. I totally agreed with her. Once you’re out of his area he won’t see you again. He was just looking for power. Plus, your more safer driving during the day when you can see people, obstacles, and debris in the road to avoid them then driving at night with the creeps and dark roads. I’ve never done anything wrong and I see cops when I’m riding my Ebike and freak out they are coming for me. They never are but still.

Cassie and lauren have gone through SO much to get this far. Then a cop just tells them they can’t do this! That cop is not right THATS for sure! Whatever problems or hick ups in the 52 days they have done this, they have ALWAYS push through them. With the cop, when all the times Cassie’s car broke down in the 52 days, they always push through those things. That cop was the worst, but they pushed through it. If they had to actually push the cars the rest of the way, they would do it. Cassie and lauren are doing anything to do this journey.

It's cool how people driving by recognize you now. Hopefully you won't have any more issues with the police. There really was no reason for that one cop to hold you. Technically you probably could have gotten into the cars and left, but I can understand sitting it out. I guess the problem was more his sergeant was his problem.

Please don't do California. I lived in both NORCAL and SOCAL. There isn't a road that's longer than 500 miles with a sidewalk like A1A or US1 here in Florida. Many roads are quite isolated and very hilly or the bike path is on a main road with car traffic. 500 miles is like going from San Francisco to San Diego and driving along the coast of California will be cold too especially a night. The temperature drops on the coastal line. I know cause I lived in San Francisco and Santa Monica. Besides where will you charge your car batteries on those isolated CA roads? If you do CA, then please prepare and plan it out. Ask CA locals about the area and conditions and map it out.

I can tell you from my own experience there are some cops that just are that way. That being said... I wonder if that cop ever rode a bike; surely, if he has, he'd know it's safer to move at 10 MPH and get off the road sooner than walk 2 mph and be on the road longer. I'm glad that the final cop was were able to convince the other to let it go but... Yeah.

Regarding the cop situation, you ladies did the right thing by staying calm & following directions. The court isn't in the streets, so the only thing to do, unfortunately, is to deal with the cop until you can later take it to court, if you choose to. Losing your cool never helps. I kinda think the mean cop knew he had made a mistake, but his pride wouldn’t let him admit it. And the more that his peers (other cops) disagreed with him, the more he clung to his faulty logic. That would explain why he continued to insist that you needed to do the unsafe thing “in the name of safety” and issued you a warning for doing nothing wrong. He literally couldn’t stand being wrong, and it seems like he wanted to punish you because he embarrassed himself in front of his colleagues. This is the kind of guy that gives cops bad names. Most are good people, but guys like this are the ones who make the headlines.
