It’s like that tweet, “consumerism is not hitting like it used to, I have to buy land”. My theory is that perfect jeans literally don’t exist. In my experience it’s more common to get jeans you like well enough and just wear them, and overtime they morph into a favorite (and therefore perfect for you) pair. At this point, my wardrobe doesn’t even have any possible gaps left to fill, so I’m basically on a no buy. Some underpants maybe, a new bra.

A cautionary tale: I saw a 5-band Confetti Cuff from David Yurman 20 or so years ago at Neiman Marcus Last Call and fell in love. I had no idea that collection was impermanent and so didn’t buy it because it was quite costly for semi-precious gems. I regretted it for years and all my attempts at buying things like it never quite satisfied. I started looking for the cuff at luxury resale sites and would come across it at prices even higher than the original because it was discontinued so long ago. Occasionally someone sold one … but in the wrong size or with different gems that I don’t love. Finally, last week … a cuff in my size that was thisclose to the one I loved, with iolite, topaz and diamonds instead of iolite, topaz, rhodolite and amethyst. The price for this barely worn cuff was doable, so I did it. It arrives today. The moral of my story is that over the years I spent more money trying to satisfy that itch than had I bought it when I first saw it. I have repeated that same mistake a few times in my life but never again. Don’t do as I did. If you obsess over something, buy it if you can.

I'm going on a low buy year for everything. I don't have much designer stuff as most of my things are mid-range and high quality; but I have enough stuff. I'm only going to be getting essentials, like replacing my skincare or makeup when what I use runs out. Only if it's something really special or if an item is old/worn out that is essential, will I consider buying it and so far, I haven't seen anything that I don't have something similar of. I am not saying orthopedic footwear is winning over fashionable tootsies but it's comfort or bust at this point in my life. the real real carted away half of my closet in november and i honestly haven’t been as appreciative for the things I have then i do now. the pieces that stayed? runway pieces from Alaia or the Dolce Alta Moda show, the limited edition handbags i still love- the ultra gaudy sunnies. i put myself on a low buy for 2025- im only allowed 5 items for the closet this year and it’s made me sooooo much more critical. it’s the safeguard i knew i needed but was afraid i would fail. so far- i found a runway Fendi peak a boo (S/S 2015) in a floral print i had been hunting down and snatched for a steal ($700) in pristine condition. i’m pretty solid with fashion right now. Bottega might tempt me since it’s Blazy’s final collection but i have health insurance premiums to pay so we’ll see if the bottega gawds are gracious

I found a great routine set from fenty beauty and with the end of year sales last year, I stocked up for at least 12 months. We have a lot of the same things on our no buy list this year! 😂 I have every shape and style of denim, and too many jackets already, I am not allowed to even look! I have a terrible habit of wanting the same piece of jewelry in both yellow and white gold and I am putting that on pause this year. I also have a bit of a one in and one out policy for handbags that has been working well. And really just catching myself when I get swept up in the hype of things, like the Mama bags and the Murakami re-editions, I want to go crazy but it’s just not practical to get a bag and shoes or accessories from every. Yup, that’s why I find all of Hermes fan’s talk about “brand loyalty” and the importance of your “relationship” with them to be such BS. Hermes have no loyalty to the customer if the sales person who had been accruing commission from you leaves. You have to line the pockets of a NEW sales person before you may get what you’d like to buy. Tacky.

I'm with you on the top handle only bags, I wish companies would realize that this limits certain buyers and figure out ways to incorporate a shoulder strap into more of these bags. I've adapted several but there are some that it just isn't doable as is. And this isn't even just an issue with luxury.

This is a real issue! I had my leather repair guy permanently alter a bag. I couldn't find an adapter kit that worked! He hung it in his shop until I could get to it and got another customer who wants her bags done. I only did one, because this alteration probably means they won't spa it now😭

How you are with jeans is how I am with shoes--specifically trainers--I don't need anymore but mine eyes keep wandering 😂 This year, I'm making a conscious effort to focus on buying specialty collection pieces i.e., there's a dress from Bottega from the Daniel Lee days that I've had my eye on. I really want to find more unique items that I can pass down--unless my nieces wanna become sneakerheads--in that case I'd be all set😅🎉

I'm not buying anymore summer clothes this year because I have more summer clothes than winter clothes, and I live in NYC lollll, it's just not adding up. I'm investing more into a great winter wardrobe and coat collection.

Not buying any more coats ( i live in a warm country ) , will be getting a top handle bag ( love a top handle moment ) but should come with a strap .. Those are the bags I reach for .. Wanna get cute summer clothes and cute sandals .. ( confy one ) .. And upgrading my alliance, this time with go for lab diamonds for sure ! 💜 Love this red on you 💜

Red is lovely on you . I told myself the same things.. so far in this first month of the year I have purchased a purple jacket, jeans and another shoulder bag …. I hope you have better luck. I think there needs to be a jeans acquisition support group. I have issues. 😁❤️💐💐💐💐

Cassie you hit the nail on the head with the jeans! As someone who does not have model proportions, I always seem to be on the hunt for the "perfect fitting" jeans. The other item I buy obsessively and have not yet found the perfect one, is a plain white T -shirt. This year I am on the hunt for the perfect white/cream trouser pant. When I say perfect, I mean one that is properly lined and I can't see the undercarriage of the pockets or my underwear underneath! If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear!

I agree with other comments, you look great in red Cassie!☺️ No bags was on my 2024 list & i’ve been mostly good about it. This year it’s probably all kinds of Japanese supplements like collagen jelly etc i buy way too much & some of them expire😫 I also need to buy less Hello Kitty or Rilakkuma items like stationery, but i can’t stop myself😅😂

I had to laugh “lounge wear” here in good old Australia we call them tracksuits which indicates the hope for exercise. I think i prefer your term. ❤
