The regs are the same as any other public water. 150 yards from any dwelling and can’t shoot while the motor is under power. Other than that it’s all the standard regulations, steel shot, shoot light etc etc.

It’s a public water way so it doesn’t have its own set of hunting regulations. All public waterways can be hunted, all hunting regulations apply.

California Regulations state as long as when shooting the boat is not moving under the power or influence of a motor or sails.

When the motor of such motorboat airboat or sailboat has been shut off/or the sails furled and its progress therefore ceased and it is drifting ,beached moored, resting at anchor or is being propelled by paddle ,oar or pole although you cannot shoot a bird while your boat is under powder and I believe your boat was under power because your trolling motor was in the Water. i think you might want to check THE REGULATIONS again . I THINK YOU ARE WRONG. HAPPY HUNTING

If you read the regulation 251, what you just wrote are those exemptions to hunting from a boat. My motor is shut off at rest and not being propelled. I’ve talked to plenty of wardens out here and all have said the same thing, as long as you’re not being propelled by the motor in the taking of a bird you are good to go.
