Tommy’s dvd is worth it ! Not only expert power casting instruction but other very important details. If you want to lessen the learning curve and minimize frustration buy the dvd .

Thanks for this. I have learned a ton over the years from Tommy but it is refreshing to see and hear the fundamentals in this format.

Just watched this last night and definitely ordering Mr. Farmer's video and looking to book a lesson. His teaching style and clarity is admirable. I think I can add 20 % to my cast already! Hoping it also translates to spinning tackle as well.
@mtuers3 жыл бұрын
Spinning is exactly the same... actually a lot less stressful. Notice Tommy doesn’t talk much about tackle here because everything he says can be applied to any rod/reel, 10’ or longer.

excellent instruction!...Been setting up the footwork a little different with the left foot at 12 o'clock and the right foot slightly behind and at 10 o'clock..for off the ground casting, seems I get a little better rotation this way, but will experiment both ways in field conditions later this summer...

Thanks God Bless, WE Love Tommy too he is mankind as well, bought his casting video, couple years ago it helped me get from 100 yards to 130 yards on the beach with practice, and in the field to 143 years , so had to find a bigger field, I'm planning on watching video more to go back to the basics to get the connections more fluid, im nearly 72 but , I know with a little more field work I just got to get to 150 yards or better with 5 oz and small baits 3, and yes some days I'm the only one hooking up on fish because of longer casts, my goal I would like to acheive over 200 yards in the field with the ground cast before really moving to the pen cast

What a great southern gentleman. Learned almost everything to achieve a long cast for fishing, but one thing I was hoping to establish was the release. At what perfect point is the release of the line I. The kinetic chain?

Americans don't know what you're missing with long distance surfcasting in saltwater. I made the trip down south many times from Canada with European style surfcasting rods of 14 feet. Same disbelief when I launched it out.

You asked about other Species where long casting helps. I am no long caster but could hit 100-120Yds. A friend and I were on the beach in cape may NJ After Striped bass. two other guys were there 75 ft away, they had 7-7 1/2 ft rods We were using 12-13 ft'ers They caught a 34 " bass . In the next 30 Mins we caught 5 Stripers between us Smallest was 27# largest was 39#. all caught at the end of our casts 90 to100 yds out. the guys with the short rods were upset! they only caught that one fish.
@w1593 жыл бұрын
What feels really good is when you hit the surf and there’s 3 or 4 other guys there using drones to take their line out. Set up and cast so far you can’t see where it lands, just know it was past the drone. Two of the guys with drones came up and had their phones out to buy the same set ups. 😂

It seems to me like podcast in just another way of saying, "we are going to pretend to do a radio show while doing a KZbin video. Which may or not be actually uploaded in audio format to the internet. But rarely actually happens." And making a guest introduce himself? I hope this gets better...

That is a great cast but throwing that cast with 8 and bait in a crowd of people is impossible . For some reason where there is fish ... There is people in the way. Beach or pier. It is what it is .. By the way I am a fan of your work but just seen too many people hurt that got in the way . Me included

My DVD goes into detail on what we call the "Hatteras" cast. On this podcast I really only teach how to hit the rod. The finish (hit) is the same if you are throwing a hatteras cast or a full blown pendulum. I agree that a crowded beach is NOT the place for a full tournament style cast, but a hatteras style beach cast has been proven safe as long as the caster uses an appropriate shock leader.

Hey Andrew, thanks for the feedback. Are you referring to the youtube ads? We didn't turn those on and now are forced to "deal" with them. I'll see what I can do.

Someone is claiming to be able to cast 1lb, sinker and bait combined, is that possible or is he full of sht?
@tommyfarmer986310 ай бұрын
lol, it is common practice on the beaches of NC (specifically Hatteras) to cast 8. 10 or even 12 oz and bait (mullet head). During rod overload testing I did indeed cast 16 oz (even more) to be sure the rods would hold up. So yes, it is possible. Of course I might be full of $#!#...

50lb. Leader,8oz.weight,and a fish head hooked through the eyes for bait- ITS DONE DAILY.
