Medium high heat. How many minutes per side roughly?
@CastIronCooking5 жыл бұрын
Raymond Robinson *I didn’t cook it at medium high heat. There is no set time for cooking a steak, your oven could be different and it is also different if you’re cooking in a nonstick pan. If you must leave the steak while it’s cooking, I would check it after seven minutes on the first side, maybe five minutes on the other side. But all you have to do when cooking a steak, is make sure there is a good sear before flipping it over.*

Thank you. Is it the salt that helps to get the crust on the steak?
@CastIronCooking5 жыл бұрын
*It sure doesn’t hurt. The bark on the steak comes from having the skillet nice and hot.Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it!*

Thank you for asking I was waiting for him to say how long..he said seven minutes in another video but I wasn't sure it may have been a different steak.. but I love his video from before I personally haunted him down. I knew it was cast iron something 😊

Did you put any oil or butter in the skillet before you put the steak? I didn't see it

Hi, this is unrelated to this video, but I watched, enjoyed, and learned a lot from your videos on how to season cast iron and stainless steel pans. Was wondering if you have a recommendation for chef's knives? Looking to buy one. You seem knowledgeable in the kitchen arena so figured I'd ask. Thank you.

*Hey there, sorry for the late reply. I have all my favorite knives listed on my Amazon page. The link is in the description box below the video. From affordable, all the way to the "bad-ass" steak knives!*

Nice video but you didn’t describe how many times you flipped it or how long it was in the cast-iron on medium heat. Can you put that in the description?
@CastIronCooking5 жыл бұрын
*I sure did! I said this is the method called put it in the skillet and don’t touch it. Then I flipped it to the other side same thing. Thank you so much for watching Hobie! I have several other methods to cook a steak as mentioned in the video, I know it’s hard to follow along with me, because my voice is monotone and puts a lot of people to sleep!*
@CastIronCooking5 жыл бұрын
Hobie's Garage BBQ *PS if this is your first time cooking a steak in a cast-iron skillet, you want to flip it when there is a good sear on it.😉Same as you would on a barbecue grill. I neveruse a timer especially when I cook meat, because different steaks have different thicknesses, also if you’re cooking in a Teflon pan then it will take less time because it is so thin. Hope that helps!*
