Thanks James! I look forward to your videos. It's good to see the mill as well as the lathe. Would be gret to see a video tour of the place you work and the various machines.

I wonder how many comments we'll see this time saying "there's no way that small part weighs 300 tons..." 🤣

I'm not sure about you, but there's no way that small part weights 300 tons... 😜
@Gameboygenius2 жыл бұрын
@@rueyyang the "joke" is that James Park uploaded a video a while back about some x ton part. A bunch of people thought it meant the weight of the part and said "no way" but it was actually referring to the load capacity of the part not the weight just like in this case.

So how big would the same part on a 9000ton machine be?
@7891ph2 жыл бұрын
That would take multiple cylinders, with some form of metering control, like a rotary flow divider to keep them in sync. Extremely doable, just very, very expensive. There's also the question; just what the hell are you up to in your garage and/or basement where you need THAT KIND of tonnage?!?!? Inquiring minds want to know!!!
@cliff43772 жыл бұрын
@@7891ph you should watch the video from the guys who make the 9000 ton press kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHOynJ56Yt-qjtk

Ark metric program ! I work on a vtl for the last 12 years and imperial is the best for big parts! Ask me 1000mm look like 🤷♂️ But I know what 40" look like!

So you removed 298.5 tonns of material?
@TalRohan2 жыл бұрын
Did I hear some chatter on the first cutting or is that just the cutter aligning concentricity? thats a big part and yet the process is the same if it weighs 50g or 50kg or whatever that weighs....even if it did weigh 500 tons its all the same just rotational speeds that change..
@TalRohan2 жыл бұрын
also are the percentage tolerances the same for small parts as for big stuff like this or are you still able to work to the 0.1 of a mil or whatever :0)
