457 CF arrived. Hit the range with cast 255grn .452 flatpoints intended for 45 Long Colt and similar. Slde note: These will shoot out of a 45acp, just size to .451 for best result. Also work nicely in 450 Bushmaster. Anyway, I don't have .457-.458 molds yet. The 255 grns drop at about 263grns and measure .254-.256 before sizing. Thought they may be close enough in diameter that gun may shoot them. I was right, the texan printed 3 in a group a little larger than a golfball with 2 of the 3 touching. These being several .001 under bore are very prone to leading. Took about 4 patches using Ed's red to clean up after about 25 of so shots. So, while not perfect, they will work and hold good accuracy at about 40 yards. and it's a 6 cavity mold... so, for what it's worth... Cheers!

Simple no nonsense how to video using a basic set up that gets results and as sick as I am of seeing masks this is a proper time wear one. Excellent

I have the AEA challenger ..457 standard and with the power kit installed 700fpe. I also have that same mold. It makes .460 rounds and I have to size them with the lee sizer die .458 to get the speed I want out of the gun. I think air cooling them is also the way to go heard. i have to try that.

Isn't this the ultimate survival setup? To supply pressure for the airgun one could use PV powered compressor.

suggestion: let your slugs air cool. Water quenching will harden the lead (good for firearms) and may not give best accuracy in an air rifle. I air cool all my slugs. might be worth setting a few a side and air cool and see if they shoot better/worse than the others. I also lube my slugs with lanolin/alcohol spray (25%/75% mix) using 90% or higher % alcohol. I purchase my lead from tire store. 100lb 5gal bucket is $20. Note: only about 40% will be usable lead. The rest is steel, zinc and composite. Wheel weight lead shoots fine out of the texan.

@@TheFowlerAirgunChannel - thanks for your videos! I'm researching .457 slug accuracy as I have a 457 scheduled for delivery today! Ive ordered the 340, 405 & ball Lee molds to start with...

Your lee mold will drop all different weights due to the temp of the mold everything expands at temperature. And depending on whether you use pure lead or wheel weights which mostly have tin content

I usually make a large batch and then sort them by weight with precision scales. Then shoot to order lol

Do you run them afterwards in a size die to make sure they are all the same size?

Nope. Im not looking for long range accuracy. I can hit a 2 inch group at 55 yards with the correct hold. I do believe I could make better. Thanks for watching
