Love the side by side comparisons of the parts. I do that too when I’m replacing a part with an aftermarket or superseded part from the manufacturer. Thanks for doing that for the GS community! The Undercar footage of the caster arm articulating was great! I should try that next time I take my GS to a HPDE. Great 2nd gen GS content as always!

I just did this but with regular replacement canister arms and bushing....luckly, i kept my old arms so ill definitely get some updated/ stronger bushing in a few thousand miles or whenever i hear strange sounds from these.

My local machine shop pressed mine in for 40 bucks both arms together, definitely worth avoiding the hastle. I did it on 60 mm. I imagine the 65 is more comfortable tho, the 60's are definitely a little on the stiff side, no where near spherical bearings but noticeably not stock. Next for me was upper control arms, my upper was on its way out just as my lower was and I replaced that with mevotech adjustables. They're the same part as the spc adjustables, however they're sold as mevotechs through rock auto for half the price. Allowed me to go a lot lower for pretty cheap and my alignment is 0'd out even if i slam it to the floor, however id need to cut knuckles for that. works great at my 2.5~3 inch drop

Yay! This job doesn’t look too hard. Do you think the hacksaw would be able to cut out the rubber bushing without needing to buy a sawzall?

It’s not too bad of a job. The hacksaw could eventually do it, but it would be rough. I even tried a jigsaw off camera and it didn’t have the “depth” required and kept hitting the bushing and bending the blade. If you have a hacksaw, give it a try but be ready to grab a sawzall quickly if it doesn’t work.

Great video!.....ive been chasing the wandering/unknown vibration aswell..I plan on ordering some bushings but should i also get bushings for the lower control arm? To my knowledge it has never been changed. Whats your opionon on it? I Appreciate all the help you provide!

Thanks! I can’t say with certainty about the LCA. I didn’t change mine - yet. Fact is, all bushings are probably going out or shot on these cars at this point. The question is: which to replace first? I would think the LCA would be a high-load, high cycle part and changing it would be a smart move. I’ll add it to my list too.

@ForwardMomentum I will look into ordering the bushing for the LCA's...I have replaced all the other suspension components, but when I did that, it seemed to amplify the symptoms of worn tension arm bushings. Thanks again for all the help!!

I wonder if im gonna be alright. When i bought my car a few years ago, i bought Mevo tec supreme for the caster arms and threw away thr factory arms. So far its been ok

If your caster is in spec and you have no related symptoms, you should be ok. But keep a regular eye on the bushings.

@ForwardMomentum The thing that makes me think they aren't is I sometimes have a wondering issue. But I chalked it up to me having 240 Treadwear tires that didn't wear evenly due to the bad suspension originally. That and California freeways aren't the best

Just replaced my caster arm bushings with strongflex poly bushings. Prior to replacing still on stock bushings, caster was 8.6 driver side and 8.4 passenger. Now with the poly bushings in its reading 9.0 driver, and 8.4 passenger. Any reason as to why it’d get even further out of spec on the driver side?

What did the alignment shop say about it? Do the strongflex bushings have 4-way motion ability like the SuperPro’s?

@@ForwardMomentum no, they’re single piece bushings with the center metal insert for the bolt from the chassis to go through. Shop didn’t say anything but might go to a performance shop that does all custom alignments for them to take a look. Also did noticed that I had to push my driver side spindle forward , vs the passenger side which I had to push the spindle backwards towards the rear of the car for the caster arm holes to line up for the bolt holes.

Those strongflex are going to wear out super quick. You really need that 4-way motion. Keep a close eye on it. The hole may get elongated rather quickly.

98 to MAR ‘01: 60mm from factory. MAR ‘01+: 65mm from factory.
