While Jordi was preflighting his plane I was fiddling with my caster board, and it occurred to me that it might work thrusting both casters simultaneously instead of each alternately. It worked! So I asked Jordi to video it. (I did end up riding with him as he practiced very nice wheel landings.) Jordi got the idea that to do this properly I should find a way to freeze the center pivot and suggested I could lay a board on the caster board and try it that way. I realized very quickly that without the center pivot I would not be able to steer and that would probably mean not being able to balance. I tried it anyway, and I was able to balance. I was able to steer too but with a very long radius. Many of the falls were spectacular because the board slipped off easily, but I landed on my feet every time! Once the board slipped off and then I slipped on the board while recovering my footing. The board mainly slipped off because of my reflexive efforts to steer. The reference to vaulting was about a mishap I had on the way to the hangar when I vaulted over a 3/4" stone I didn't notice. It stopped the caster board in about 3 inches and I took a roll. My hip's not feeling all that well today.
