Why do you use less water (4 vs 6 oz) in your recipe more than the soap calc?
@CraftwithGeeta
@CraftwithGeeta Жыл бұрын
@zoyamargolis6889 It helps the soap to trace faster, and it unmolds easily from the mold.

How long do you wait to cut it? I did this soap once and when I cut it the majority shreded into pieces, maybe I should have waited a little longer for the soap to become harder.

Hi! I am adding that to my newer videos. I agree with you :) For this particular soap, the cleansing is low with fewer bubbles. It is considered mostly for gentle skin. It does last longer in the shower in comparison to other soaps, as it makes a pretty hard bar of soap.

We should use hot water or cold water to make soap
@CraftwithGeeta
@CraftwithGeeta 5 ай бұрын
When you mix lye and water, it is an exothermic reaction (releases heat), so cold water is good.
@pinupdoll97
@pinupdoll97 4 ай бұрын
Cold and of the distilled variety. Lye reaction is something that needs to be researched well before making anything because it can get dangerous fast if you don’t follow a few very important rules. I hope you got/get to try it because it is a great skill set to have and is a really fun process if you do.❤

@robinfox4440 it is beginner friendly because it gives you time to work with the soap batter if you never made soap before. It does not trace fast which allows someone new to see how trace looks like. If you don't like long curing time, Bastile soap is also beginner friendly with just 6 weeks of cure time. I have that tutorial and recipe available here- kzbin.info/www/bejne/joCufquampakpqssi=hPNJwUluJT_je8rJ

Hi I would like to ask if its safe to add some essential oils in soap bars?
@CraftwithGeeta
@CraftwithGeeta Жыл бұрын
Yes, essential oils are safe to use, but please use only recommended quantity. It is generally mentioned in the IFRA document that comes with it when you buy from a reputed seller. Also always be careful which essential oil you use because they don't always suit everyone. They can be harmful to pregnant women and animals like cats & dogs. I hope it helps.

@@CraftwithGeetaAs someone who studied skin&body care, and a Aromatherapy student, isn’t lye a harsher chemical to use? I’m very interested in soap creations, and your input will be well received
@CraftwithGeeta
@CraftwithGeeta Жыл бұрын
@isabellac1117 lye does not remain as lye in a soap. Soap is the product of a chemical reaction between lye and fats (oils/butter). You can find more information about this process. This process is called "Saponification". I hope it helps!

Isn't Lye suppose to be bad for fir you? I ask because Lye had to be removed from a lot of hair products for black hair care.🤔
@CraftwithGeeta
@CraftwithGeeta 2 ай бұрын
Hi! Lye itself is harmful, but when it is mixed with oils or butters, there is a chemical reaction called saponification. This saponification is what changes the mixture of lye water and oils into a soap. It is very important to calculate all values well so there is no lye left after this reaction. If calculated and mixed well, there is no lye left once the soap is made. Thank you 🙂

Hi! If it is already a soap and won't harden, I assume it is a liquid Castile soap. If Potassium Hydroxide is used, it makes liquid soap, and if Sodium hydroxide is used, it makes a bar soap.
