Damn, that looks so good. Looks like I need to get back into casting. I have new techniques available to me with computer rendering and my 3d printer. Combined with these traditional methods the sky is the limit.

if you ever may need some custom sculpting, I would love to make something. I did some a bit acanthus leaf mold for plaster in the 1980s that's in a historic building in downtown KCMO, but didn't really get paid for it, but it was still cool. I sculpted a frog to mainly maybe make a fountain from it, but haven't made a mold for it yet. I have a BFA in painting, but love to sculpt.

Ya ever think about turning that compressor off while making a video or put some drywall around it or overdub the vocal track or like alot o folks do, run some crappy background music and caption everything, Lol. It is a great video though, were just missing a lil information. I dont kno if people could hear or if you talked about how well using a vacuum works with casting medium to eliminate bubbles. Our wives will never kno that Puter can make a lovely engagement ring. I wont tell if you dont

Subject: Revised Fwd: LALIQUE collection of car mascot (hood ornaments) come to auction at: www.gorringes.co.uk Background history: The French glass company under the leadership of its creator René Jules Lalique produced a series of artisan designed automotive mascots during the inter-war period for a short time between 1925 and 1931. They proved very popular and were produced in a special hardened glass even though they were still quite vulnerable mounted onto the cars radiator cap! They were produced until the German occupation of the Alsace region along with the factory in 1940. During this period all were signed mainly in intaglio (along with other methods) as 'R. Lalique France' (with two exceptions having 'Lalique France' only, along with some home market non-export pieces). After 1947 they were then signed 'Lalique France' engraved in a scrolling script with a circled 'r' for registered, as they are to this day. They continued to be produced post-war up until 1947 and then reproduced in chrystal glass by the re-formed company under his son Marc, known as 'Cristal Lalique SA' as desk ornament paperweights until very recently and a few are still on the 'Lalique' catalogue after the 2008 takeover by the company Art et Fragrance. They are all highly sort after by collectors today. Full details are to be found on the commercial website: www.uniquelaliquemascots.simplesite.com and The Lalique Mascot Collectors' club website: www.brmmbrmm.com/lbcc.bb

I would like to know if this process of making molds would also work on car plastic? I'm trying to restore a horn button that is not available in reproduction. The button is slightly domed, and the manufacturer's emblem is stamped into the back of the plastic so it is recessed. Any help is appreciated.
@aonemarine2 жыл бұрын
That was probably injection molded. I'm assuming it's clear plastic, and either chromed or painted on the back side? You could probably use clear casting resin to make it.
@christiebell1282 жыл бұрын
It is clear resin/plastic/lucite -or something. It is painted & it has chrome or something on it. Is making it something you could do? I can get the paint & chrome, I’d just need the mold made & the button made.
@aonemarine2 жыл бұрын
The "job" thing has me to busy to do anything right now. That's also some pretty specialized work and I would need to do some experimentation to see how it could be done. What year and kind of car is this for??

It is for a 1965 Pontiac GTO Deluxe Steering Wheel. I could send you a button or measurements with pictures. Or if it is something you think could be done, I could send a button.
