Its clay with bits of straw to make the mold strong and horse manure which also has chewed up bits of straw.....A guage of wood or metal winds around the core which is built up of bricks and then covered with the soft clay the strickle or guage winds around the clay covered bricks... then there is the guage winds around a container shaping the outside shape...when this is done,the top hull is sat down over the core and secured to prevent leaks..The metal is usually poured from the top until it fills an empty space shaped like the bell from the guage... There is another way with using wax over a clay core and with a guage layering up the wax thats then covered with clay. The wax is melted out leaving a hull. then the mold is poured....
