Casting and Jigging for Lake Erie Walleye

Call us a little psychic, but here is a couple hours of casting and jigging with plastics for Lake Erie Walleyes. We actually shot this a week or so before the National Walleye Tour was won with similar tactics. We have been using the Z-Man ElaZtech® fork and paddle tail bodies here at Bigwater Fishing. Capt. Ross Robertson has made his complete living chasing walleye as a full time professional angler for more than 20 years. Through the years he has worn many hats including time as a fishing guide, boat salesman, TV host, outdoor writer, product designer, tournament fisherman, speaker, radio host and podcaster to name a few.
Ross fishes ice-out to ice-up on the Great Lakes. He spends the majority of the year walleye fishing on Lake Erie’s Western and Central basins.

We had a bunch of walleye "excrete" in the live well. Once I told my 13 year old son what is was all over him he was a little grossed out. I was laughing so hard and laying it on about fish jizz. Almost ruined walleye fishing for him. :)

That wind was terrible yesterday. I tried shore fishing yesterday. Got a huge gust of wind right when I was casting my baitcaster and got the worst birdnest I ever got.. Ended that fishing day.. lol

was out there this weekend (terrible winds) in port clinton and i caught a few jigging 1 oz hair jigs however i feel like i couldnt hook up when i would get struck... white perch? Or do i just suck at hook sets

Lot of variables.....but especially with a 1oz and wind you hook other things and often it might not have been the mouth the hook was in...wink wink

That is impressive line strength hoisting them fish with only 6lb mono, and cold conditions Can you share the brand?

Camt as of yet...Proto type...but .011 line will generally test way above 6lb onna machine

Have you noticed bucktail jugs work better in colder temps or it's plastics mostly

Hair jigs seem to always work, but plastics in cleaner or slightly warmer water is often a pattern
