The OG is amazing for bass fisherman or inshore. The brakes are absolutely fine for that application. Most bass fisherman dont care if it can throw a trout magnet. I agree it's overbraked for panfish

The OG is over braked, so throwing heavier lures would work better than lighter. a small diameter spool is not made for heavier lures. So u will still run into shorter casting distance, especially with the OG one due to over braked issue. I would use the zephyr for heavier finesse lures!

Off topic but have you looked into the daiwa silver wolf rods? I cant find much english info on them, but they have fast solid tips, and are longer. Chinning rods, as i understand, are optimized around getting distance with lightweight single hook rigs (free rigs) and sensitivity. I have never owned a solid tip rod but i imagine the 83ml model would be good for the surg

I own the kestrel OG with the Kestrel 6’9” bfs rod. I also have the Kestrel regular paired with the 6’7” Perigee ML, hands down my favorite thing about these reels is the size! They are small and yet still pack 12 to 13 pounds of drag. Don’t make me buy the updated Kestrel Elite 😆

U would love this over that over braked reel. BTW, u should use a larger bfs reel for ML rods. Like the zephyr. It will be much smoother and cast further :) I asked tate for a zephyr elite bfs BTW! Wink wink

@@rawrfishing bro I love the size of the Kestrel reel on the Perigee ML and you’re telling me to pair a bigger reel with it. It’s all about comfort and comfort makes this combo have form which leads into function! Let’s step away from the specs for a moment. I know you have this rod and reel. String the kestrel up with 8lbs or 6lbs fluorocarbon and it cast super nice. Ok I’m picking up on what you’re putting down with that zephyr elite 😳🙏🏼

How does this reel compare to the Haibo arise ultra air (2024) or shimano curado bfs? 😁

I don't have experience with the latest reels from Haibo, but after they have adopted designs from Ark, their reels seems to be pretty good. But again, I haven't played with any and I don't plan on for the time being as they are not within my budget. Curado BFS reel is a different size spool reel. While the new KSE-MFS can cast lighter and better than Curado BFS, the Curado BFS will be better for L and ML power rods for larger/heavier bait finesse lures. Quality wise, shimano is likely going to last longer, but we will have to find out since i just have gotten this reel from KK. The best reel I can compare to the KK-KSE-MFS would be the Ark Gravity BFS reel. Same size spool and the reel can throw lighter lures out of the box and plus, it's priced extremely well for what it can do

u bet! if want to simply do 1 gram to 5, this reel can do it, but it's not out yet. If u need to get a reel now, Ark is going to be ur best choice that I can personally recommend. The fish don't wait!

So I can't find the mfs even on kast King site is this the kestrel elite magnesium . All they have is the kestrel bfs and the kestrel elite magnesium nothing called the mfs

Sorry to hear that. I fulfilled my side for KK making this video, but seems like they are not releasing it yet. Wonder if they have released it in Asia for more testing.
