Hi Hannah. I've recently subscribed to the "Knit With Hannah" channel and while I'm trying to knit some tube socks, I am watching you on my lap top. So interesting to learn all these innovative knitting ideas. I learned as a teen ager to cast on using my thumb, and knit a pair of dice for my boyfriends car mirror. Later I think I made a few things, again I cast on with my thumb, but never did a lot with it. I think I made a sweater, but gave it to someone when it was done. Didn't ever do much more knitting, but now... I love it, and you are so easy to follow, that I think I can learn. This is a very cool cast on. Thanks for showing it.

what does a pattern mean when it says ending with a rs row when doing a raglan jumper. Do you finish on the wrongside with the tail piece on your left side.
@KnitWithHannah7 ай бұрын
Ending with a rs, means the last row is right side. So if "ending with a rs, then cast off" or similar, the last row before casting off will be right side, and if you look at the piece from the right side, you'll have finished the row and the yarn tail will be on the left. Next instruction will be with wrong side facing and tail on right. Happy knitting 🧶

This is how I've just learnt to cast on. Didn't realise it also knitted a row though. So would that mean your next row, for counting purposes, is actually the 2nd row? I love your videos, you explain things really nicely. I found you whilst search for tutorials to explain what the pictures in the "learn to knit" kit I bought meant 🤦🏼♀️ Watched a few tutorials and decided you were the best for me as you have so many tutorials all in one place. No need to look elsewhere. Thank you so much. Looking forward to knitting with you as my guide throughout 2022.

So glad you enjoyed this video. With this method it can depend on how the designer has written the pattern and also in a knitting book it may give casting on instructions one way or another. I like to suggest a cast on method in most of my patterns, but think about the first row that you knit after a thumb-loop cast-on as the 'wrong side' if it's mentioned at any point in the pattern too. There's also remembering that it's one row of stitches, which might be part of a seam or added to and basically not seen at all once you've finished, so you can let it lie as is. :D Happy knitting! 🧶
