Nice, Pete on the river showing how to do it! 👏 That is a great technique letting out the fly line as it goes down stream. I tend to slightly raise my rod and have gotten many of takes at the very end of a drift.

Nice & interesting video 👌. I propher to use a trotting method 🎣. Using a 1.5gr float, that has 2 peaces of tub rubber ( top & bottom ) so I can adjust the depth more easily.

The roll cast and water load cast are the 2 casts I do majority of the time. Self taught took me over 2 years of trial and error to be proficient enought to consistently catch fish. I almost gave up. In hindsight I wish I took fly casting lessons and a guide. This spring Im hiring a guide. My friends used to laugh at me for fly fishing now they all want to learn because they see the amount of fish I land. I tell them 2 things fly casting lessons and hire a guide. It will speed up your progession and save a lot of headaches/ frustration.

It all depends on the water. Where I live, there's many small pocket water streams, using a 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 ft rods and short leaders may be the only option. When the water is up and there's room to cast, then the longer rods and different methods come out. WNC

Some of the euro nymphing lines have a colour separation to define the running line from the head.

Why are you still nymphing with fly lines lying on the water? That is old-school. You need to show anglers how it really should be done with long leaders.

This is New Zealand style, with yarn indicator, it's not euronymphing...

Thanks for the feedback, the purpose of this video was to demonstrate how to smoothly cast an indicator with a long leader. This setup up works well for Great Lakes steelhead nymphing, especially at distances. We will have tight-line or euro nymphing videos coming soon.
